Job summary

BAMSI is seeking a Residential Counselor in a Tremont St location to provide rehabilitative support to adults in group living environments, helping residents build daily living and community integration skills.

You will teach ADLs, assist with medication management under clinician guidance, and document care while coordinating transportation to appointments and community activities. Strong English communication, a valid driver’s license, and a commitment to trauma-informed care are essential.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; mental health experience preferred.
• MAP certification required; if not current, employer-provided training must be completed within 3 months.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to assist with mobility.
• Strong communication skills in English and basic computer proficiency.
• Compassion, patience, and a commitment to trauma-informed care.
• Bonus: lived experience or multilingual abilities (e.g., Spanish, Portuguese).

Responsibilities

• Provide rehabilitative support to adults in Group Living Environments (GLE) to foster daily living skills and community integration.
• Teach ADLs (cooking, budgeting, medication management) and socialization skills.
• Implement treatment plans and behavioral interventions under clinician guidance.
• Administer/supervise medications per MAP guidelines and document care.
• Transport residents to appointments and community activities.
• Advocate for residents’ needs and model healthy coping strategies.
• Maintain a safe, clean home environment and complete timely documentation.
