Job summary

North Slope Borough School District seeks an experienced electrician to perform installation, modification, and repair of electrical components and systems in district facilities, adhering to the National Electrical Code and district policies. A valid Alaska Class D driver’s license and State of Alaska Electrical Certificate of Fitness are required.

Primary duties include maintaining electrical systems, installing wiring and fixtures, inspecting fire alarms, and estimating materials and labor

Qualifications

• Graduate from high school or GED.
• Two years of technical training in electrical systems or university program certificate.
• Four to five years related experience and/or training.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and repair the electrical systems in all District facilities.
• Installs and repair wiring, electrical fixtures, apparatus and control equipment.
• Check and maintain fire alarms in all District facilities.
• Observe safety standards and regulations.
• Estimate material, repair, labor, and costs for projects related to field.
• All work will be done in compliance with the National Electrical Code.
• Adhere to all District policies and regulations.
• Perform such other tasks and assume other responsibilities as the supervisor may assign.

Education and/or Experience:

Interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

Valid Class D Alaska driver's license.

State of Alaska Electrical Certificate of Fitness.

Lift 70 pounds.

Speak the Iñupiaq language.
