Job summary

North Slope Borough School District is seeking an experienced electrician to maintain and repair electrical systems across district facilities. The role involves installing and repairing wiring, fixtures, apparatus, and control equipment, with strict adherence to safety standards and the National Electrical Code.

Responsibilities include inspecting and maintaining fire alarms, estimating material and labor, and performing tasks as assigned by supervision.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Two years of technical training in electrical systems or university program certificate.
  • Four to five years related experience and/or training.
  • Valid Alaska driver's license and Alaska Electrical Certificate of Fitness required.

  • Maintain and repair the electrical systems in all District facilities.
  • Install and repair wiring, electrical fixtures, apparatus and control equipment.
  • Check and maintain fire alarms in all District facilities.
  • Observe safety standards and regulations.
  • Estimate material, repair, labor, and costs for projects related to field.
  • All work will be done in compliance with the National Electrical Code.
  • Adhere to all District policies and regulations.
  • Perform such other tasks as the supervisor may assign.

Add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

Compute rate, ratio and percent and draw and interpret bar graphs.

Reasoning Ability

Solve practical problems and deal with a variety of non-standard situations.

Interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

Valid Class D Alaska driver's license.

State of Alaska Electrical Certificate of Fitness.

Other Skills and Abilities
