Responsibilities

  • Prepare process and finished product samples.
  • Perform analytical testing using instrumental and wet chemistry procedures.
  • Record results in computerized data systems.
  • Conduct daily process monitoring tests throughout the plant.
  • Maintain samples of tested products to confirm test results.
  • Enter and report data using a LIMS (Laboratory Information Management System).
  • Understand production processes and may make recommendations to operators to improve quality.
  • Perform light maintenance and calibration on laboratory equipment.
  • Maintain records of all testing procedures and input data daily.

Job Opportunity

Pay: $20.50/hr

Shift: Monday & Tuesday 3pm-11pm, Wednesday & Thursday 11pm-7am, Sunday 7am-3pm. Off Friday and most Saturdays.

Location: Decatur, Illinois

Job Duties:
  • Prepare process and finished product samples.
  • Perform analytical testing using instrumental and wet chemistry procedures.
  • Record results using computerized data systems.
  • Conduct daily process monitoring tests throughout the plant as assigned.
  • Maintain samples of tested products to confirm test results, if necessary.
  • Document results of all testing procedures and promptly notify operations of required adjustments.
  • Enter and report data using a Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS).
  • Understand production processes and may make recommendations to operators to achieve product quality.
  • Perform light maintenance and calibration on all laboratory equipment.
  • Maintain ongoing records of the results of all testing procedures and input such data into a computer daily.
  • Maintain adequate supplies for testing procedures and notify the supervisor of the need to reorder.
  • Compare equipment readouts with samples of standards to ensure accurate operation.
  • Maintain a neat and clean working area, wash equipment as required, and store equipment properly.
  • Maintain an effective working relationship with fellow employees.
  • Perform duties safely, utilizing all approved safety equipment and complete all safety certification requirements.
  • Adhere to all FDA, GMP, BATF, EPA, OSHA, and employer standards and guidelines.
Education/Training Preferred:
  • 2 or more years of science degree.
Experience Preferred:
  • Good attendance history.
  • Excellent safety record and awareness.
  • Proficient computer skills to utilize lab instrument operation programs.
  • Familiarity with commercial software applications (Excel, Word).
  • Experience with lab documentation.
  • Experience operating standard lab equipment (e.g., pH meter, balances, spectrophotometer).
  • Proficient math skills for calculations associated with lab testing.
  • Previous plant experience.
