A leading company in healthcare is seeking a Manufacturing Welder in Houston. This role involves weld preparation, welding, and finishing operations to manufacture products according to specifications. Ideal candidates should have 1-2 years of welding experience and a strong understanding of MIG and TIG techniques. Pay Rate: *** - *** per hour, depending on experience and certification.
The Manufacturing Welder is responsible for weld preparation, welding and weld finishing operations to manufacture products according to drawings, specifications and other forms of instruction. * Weld components in flat, vertical, horizontal or overhead positions. * Clamp, hold, tack-weld, heat-bend and grind component parts. * Detect faulty operation of equipment and materials. * Examine work for defects. * Operate hand and power tools common to the welding trade. * Use the guiding principles and tools of the Manufacturing System to drive continuous improvement, wherever applicable.
Budget and Compensation
* Pay Rate: *** - *** per hour, depending on experience and certification.
* Per Diem: Not offered.
* Overtime: Anticipated, especially Fridays and possibly weekends.
Key Responsibilities
* Perform weld preparation, welding, and finishing operations per drawings/specs.
* Weld in flat, vertical, horizontal, or overhead positions.
* Clamp, tack-weld, grind, and heat-bend components.
* Detect equipment/material faults and examine work for defects.
* Operate hand and power tools common to welding.
* Apply continuous improvement principles from the Manufacturing System.
* Work on Sand Screen and Alternate Path Systems for Oil and Gas customers per API 19SS.
Experience and Skills
* Minimum Experience: 1-2 years of welding experience required.
* Preferred: 2-3 years.
* Certifications: Not required, but preferred.
* Top 3 Technical Skills:
1. Knowledge of weld process
2. Use of computers
3. Ability to read drawings and layout parts
* Welding Techniques/Materials: MIG & TIG; 304 to 316, 316 to 825, 316 to 316, 304 to 825, 825 to 825
* Certifications: Not required, but preferred
* Industry Standards: ASME IX
Hiring Timeline
* Target Start Date: ASAP
* Urgency: ASAP-current team working 7 days/week because they are short-handed
Length of Assignment
* Duration: 12 months.
Work Environment
* Location: Indoor shop in Houston, TX.
* PPE Required: Yes-hard hat, safety glasses, jumpsuit, and boots.
* PPE Provided: Yes, but steel-toe boots preferred if available.
Team Structure
* Long-tenured team (some with 30-40 years of service).
* Welcoming, collaborative environment.

Training
* NEST training required before starting on the floor.
* Conducted locally in Houston.
Shift/Hours
* Standard: Four 10-hour shifts (Mon-Thurs).
* Overtime: Likely includes Fridays and possibly weekends.
Physical Demands
* Lifting up to 50 lbs
* Standing and sitting for extended periods
* Handling parts and performing repetitive process steps
Interview Process
* Initial phone screen
* In-person interview for selected candidates
* Welding test (if possible): Setup machine to WPS and weld 316 to 316
