The company includes rollups of Marco, Superior Fireplace (established in the 1930s), stove and insert companies such as Country Stoves (established in 1977), and others. FMI, a subsidiary of Desa, acquired Design Dynamics in vented and vent-free logs in 2003. In 2008, the FMI management team acquired their division's assets. Job Description:

The Production Welder is responsible for reading and interpreting blueprints, sketches, and specifications to determine the dimensions of parts to be welded, cutting metal into the correct shape, and joining pieces of metal together. They fill seams, indentations, and holes in metal products, repair machinery by welding, and use power supplies, torches, grinders, saws, and other heavy machinery to shape metal. The role requires following instructions and communicating effectively with co-workers, supporting IHP values.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Assess which welding equipment and method are appropriate for specific tasks.
  2. Repair machinery or components by welding or filling holes.
  3. Inspect welded surfaces and smooth them for quality finish.
  4. Align components using rulers and clamps for stability.
  5. Weld components using manual or semi-automatic equipment.
  6. Study blueprints or project specifications.
  7. Calculate dimensions of parts to be welded.

Qualifications:

  • Previous MIG welding experience.
  • High concentration and attention to detail.
  • Health and Safety awareness.

Must Have:

  • Experience with TIG/MMA/MIG welding on stainless steel 316L, Alloy 800, duplex, and some carbon steel.
  • Good engineering background.

Ability:

Fluency in English is required; Spanish is a plus.
