Job summary

Nortech Systems, Inc. is seeking an Assembly/Manufacturing Technician in Minnesota to support production goals. You will promote safety, train new team members, assign tasks, and monitor workload in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred candidates have 3+ years of hands-on manufacturing experience, ability to read drawings, and proficiency with manufacturing software and Microsoft Office. Night shift offers differential pay.

Qualifications

  • Experience with equipment operation, testing, calibration, troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications.
  • Proficiency with manufacturing equipment, Microsoft Office, and manufacturing software systems.
  • Experience training and supporting team members.

Pay Range: $28.00 - $31.00 hourly, based on experience, skills, and certifications. *Night Shift receives an additional $1 shift differential on top of base pay.

Responsibilities:

  • Promote team members’ safety and welfare.

  • Welcome, introduce, and train new team members; monitor performance and progress, and address performance concerns as needed.
  • Ensure team members follow all regulations and written procedures applicable to jobs.
  • Monitor and assess manufacturing output via test failures, monitoring trends and working with Engineering and Manufacturing team members to resolve.
  • Develop and aid in the statistical analysis of failed assemblies and the development of root cause analysis and appropriate corrective actions.
  • Set up and troubleshoot failed electronic components, subassemblies and finished goods, test fixturing, both hardware and software, and facilitate transition set-up and switch-over for manufacturing.
  • Test electronic subassemblies to documented test and quality procedures.
  • Perform and/or oversee necessary maintenance to work area on a regular basis including fixturing, basic equipment repair, etc.
  • Evaluate, isolate, and document the source of mechanical and electrical failures and defect tags as needed.
  • Develop work instructions/procedures, training documents, assembly/product lay-outs, job specific software programs and/or other Engineering and Manufacturing procedures to ensure accurate and consistent placement of components/assemblies.
  • Assist with first article reviews of any first run assemblies as needed.
  • Perform time standard evaluations/corrections as needed to ensure they meet and/or exceed established standards.
  • Assist with monitoring the manufacturing process from start to finish, ensuring team members are properly trained and the process is working to standard.
  • Review BOM’s, Prints, Gerbers, Schematics, Test Specifications, and/or other pertinent information necessary to provide feedback or suggestions to improve manufacturability and/or cost savings.
  • Write and review ECOs/ECRs/ADR’s and take appropriate action to implement requirements documented in the ECOs/ECRs/ADR’s, including updates of work instructions and programs as necessary.
  • Provide input during performance review and performance management processes.
  • Complete Company required training in a timely manner; participate actively in and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives including process reviews, efficiency studies, machine and equipment tuning, software/hardware upgrades, and other team efforts.
  • Demonstrate and support Nortech’s Mission, Core Values, policies and procedures at all times.
  • May perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Required Education & Experience

  • Associate degree (or equivalent certification) in manufacturing or a related technical field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 3+ years of hands‑on manufacturing or machine operation experience.
  • Experience with equipment operation, testing, calibration, troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications.
  • Proficiency with manufacturing equipment, Microsoft Office, and manufacturing software systems.
  • Experience training and supporting team members.

Preferred:

  • Experience in medical device, aerospace, defense, or other high‑tech manufacturing environments.

Required
  • Experience training and assisting new and developing team members.
  • Three years of experience:
  • Troubleshooting machine, equipment and/or manufacturing output problems, determining root cause, identifying and applying corrective solutions.
  • Using electronic devices and computing systems including Microsoft Office and manufacturing software applications.
  • Three years of experience:
  • Related technical manufacturing or machine operating experience including operation, testing, calibration, troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair.
  • Reading and accurately interpreting technical instructions including engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Using, maintaining, and repairing manufacturing machines and equipment including operation, testing, calibration, and basic maintenance.
  • Associates degree or equivalent certification in a manufacturing or related technical discipline; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Mathematics knowledge including basic calculations, fractions, statistical applications, and measuring.
Preferred
  • Manufacturing experience in a medical device, aerospace, defense, or similar high‑tech environment.
