Job summary

First Solar in New Iberia, LA is seeking a Manufacturing Engineering Technician to assist in installation and qualification of systems, and to troubleshoot day-to-day manufacturing issues to improve throughput, yield, and product performance.

Candidates should have a technical background and the ability to work with minimal supervision, with emphasis on safety, problem solving, and accurate documentation.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Associates degree in technical discipline preferred.
• 2+ years of machine or mechanic experience.
• First Solar technical experience preferred.
• Six months of temporary manufacturing engineering technician experience at First Solar.

Responsibilities

• Solve day-to-day production, equipment, and process problems.
• Identify and implement yield and product performance improvements.
• Develop methods to assign causes to yield excursions.
• Set up and maintain gauges.
• Ensure processes run on target per the Process Control Plan.
• Respond to SPC process control alarms and restore control.
• Execute planned process experiments and analyze results.
• Provide training to production associates.
• Develop and update internal documentation.
• Interface with internal staff and supplier representatives to complete projects.
• Maintain understanding of area processes, equipment, and support systems.
• Maintain effective communication with production associates and manufacturing engineers.
• Disposition non-conforming product per established criteria (NCP).
• Adhere to safety procedures and housekeeping.
• Ensure waste disposal in designated containers.
• Ensure hazardous waste containers stay closed.
• Ensure satellite accumulation containers stay in designated locations.
