Job summary

Chipton-Ross is seeking multiple Manufacturing Technician 1s for a contract in Goleta, CA. The role involves assembling mechanical components, setting up prototype units, and supporting engineering in development and testing.

You will perform manufacturing tasks, calibrations, and quality testing, while handling materials safely and maintaining documentation. The position requires a HS diploma or GED with relevant experience and a flexible schedule.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED plus at least 2 years of related education/experience.
• Ability to read, write and follow instructions in English.
• Ability to lift/push/pull up to 40 pounds.
• Ability to stand for extended periods and work varied shifts.
• Willingness to work overtime and different manufacturing schedules.
• Initiative, self-starter, adaptable, motivated for excellence.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word/PowerPoint/Excel).
• Demonstrated mechanical ability; read and follow engineering drawings/schematics.
• Familiar with proper hand tool technique and safety; understand torque.

Responsibilities

• Assemble or fabricate mechanical components for larger assemblies.
• Set up and test prototype units and subassemblies; analyze data and suggest modifications.
• Assist engineers with development and testing of mechanical designs.
• Perform manufacturing operations, setup/calibration tasks, rework, and quality testing for parts and assemblies.
• Use data collection programs to analyze operating data and make on-line adjustments.
• Develop methods to control or modify the manufacturing process.
• Handle and manage fragile composite materials; maintain traceability.
• Record usage, notations, pot life, and out time for adhesive materials; collaborate with teams.
• Maintain shop area cleanliness and assist in shop planning.
