Job summary

Northrop Grumman Corp. in Iuka, MS is seeking a Manufacturing Technician 2 to join the Manufacturing Operations Organization. You will read blueprints, align parts, perform fitting operations, and measure with precision tools to ensure quality on the shop floor.

Eligible candidates must have a High School Diploma or GED with relevant experience, be able to lift up to 35 pounds, and obtain a U.S. Government Secret clearance. Multiple shifts are available with shift differential where applicable.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED plus 2 years in aerospace/manufacturing environment.
• Ability to perform moderate strenuous and repetitive work: lifting up to 35 pounds, bending, stooping, and working overhead.
• Must obtain and maintain a U.S. Government Secret level clearance; U.S. citizenship required for clearance.
• Must be able to work any shift.

Responsibilities

• Read and understand blueprints.
• Translate blueprints into fabrication of structural assemblies with precision drilling, countersinking, and calibrated tools.
• Align parts on jigs using templates and fixtures.
• Perform part-fitting operations: filing, sawing, burring, crimping, trimming, riveting, drilling, and reaming.
• Measure parts with micrometers and calipers to verify dimensions.
• Modify assemblies to incorporate changes and verify quality per control procedures.
• Daily usage of manufacturing shop controls and systems.
• Use appropriate PPE on the shop floor.
• Recommend and implement continuous improvement in production methods and equipment.

In this position, you will join our Manufacturing Operations Organization within the Aeronautics Systems sector as a Manufacturing Technician 2 supporting our Iuka, MS site. We’re seeking a hands‑on professional with exceptional attention to detail, a strong commitment to quality, and outstanding interpersonal skills.

This position may be filled at varying shift times including weekdays, nights, and weekends (shift differential paid during eligible shifts).

Shift Schedule

• Mon–Thu 7am–5:30pm (A Shift)
• Mon–Thu 5:30pm–4am (B Shift)
• Fri–Sun 7am–7:30pm (C Shift)
• Fri–Sun 7pm–7:30am (D Shift)

Essential Functions

• Read and understand blueprints.
• Translate blueprints into fabrication of structural assemblies, including precision drilling, countersinking, and calibrated tools.
• Align parts on jigs using templates and fixtures.
• Perform part‑fitting operations: filing, sawing, burring, crimping, trimming, framing, riveting, drilling, and reaming.
• Measure parts with precision tools such as micrometers and calipers to verify dimensions.
• Modify incomplete and complete assemblies to incorporate changes to the structure and verify quality in accordance with statistical process or other control procedures.
• Daily usage of manufacturing shop controls and systems.
• Use appropriate PPE when working on the shop floor.
• Recommend and implement continuous improvement activities in production methods, equipment performance, and team effectiveness.

Basic Qualifications

• High School Diploma/GED and at least 2 years of experience in hydraulic parts, assemblies, components, or systems in an aerospace, automotive, military, manufacturing, and/or maintenance environment.
• Ability to perform moderate strenuous and repetitive work: bending, stooping, kneeling, carrying tools, lifting up to 35pounds, working overhead or at heights, and accessing small, confined spaces.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government Secret level clearance and Special Program Access within a reasonable period; U.S. citizenship required for clearance.
• Must successfully complete and pass the "ASTAR New Hire Training / Compliance" within a reasonable time period defined by the company.
• Must be able to work any shift.

Preferred Qualifications

• Current or active U.S. Government Secret level clearance.
• Experience in aerospace manufacturing.
• Demonstrated ability using standard measuring equipment and power hand tools (drills, grinders, sanders, cutting wheels, saws, tape measures, scales, micrometers, dial calipers).
• Ability to read and understand blueprints, technical specifications, and operating procedures.
• Experience working to electronic or written instructions.
• Ability to read engineering drawings.

Salary

The primary level salary range is $39,800.00 – $66,300.00. This range is a guideline; Northrop Grumman considers various factors when determining base salary offers.
