Job description

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Assist with equipment operation, maintenance, and cutters/tooling procurement.

• Assist with physical dimension verification using on machine tool and support inspection of parts to ensure quality and accuracy

• Performs all machine set-ups in accordance with Standard Work outline without assistance.

• Performs all work in a safe manner, to include proper use of personal protective equipment.

• Follows Specification of inspections as noted. Ensures product output meets drawing requirements per AQL standards.

• Participation in Lean activities/trainings and active use of Lean tools in daily operations to include SQDCC, Hr. X Hr., Charts and Lean Engagement programs, 5S and other programs as directed.

• Utilizes properly calibrated precision measuring instruments such as calipers, depth gages, thread gages, pin gages, and other measuring tools.

• Trains other employees in basic and complex machine operator techniques and related departmental subfunctions.

• Be highly visible to associates and promote hands-on, high involvement approaches to problem solving.

• Fill in for the Leads when they are out.

• Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

• Willingness to learn programming

Work Experience:

• Minimum of 3 years as a CNC set up/operator

• Prior experience with machine setups and troubleshooting Preferred Skills and Experience: • General knowledge of CNC program accuracy.

• Familiar with CNC tool path programs

• Provide tooling selection, set-up documentation as needed

• Ability to trouble-shoot CNC programs for issues and errors.

• Experience with using standard inspection tools and methods in the evaluation of machined parts.

• Familiarity with Haas/Fanuc Machines.

• Technical degree or certification related to Machine Tool Technology or Manufacturing Engineering

Required education:

• High school or equivalent

Physical and/or Additional Requirements:

• Must be able to work all shifts and available for overtime as well as weekends if needed.

• Must be able to stand for extended periods – 8 hours min.

• Must be able to lift 40lbs

• Must be able to stoop, bend and being able to maneuver in tight spaces.

Pay Transparency

nVent’s pay scale is based on the expected range of base pay for this job and the employee’s work location. Employee pay within this range will be based on a combination of factors including knowledge, skills, abilities, experience, education, and performance. Where federal, state, or local minimum wage requirements exist, employee pay will comply.

Compensation Range:

$18.90 - $35.00 Per Hour

Position Overview: nVent – San Diego is seeking a Manufacturing Technician that is an experienced and a hands-on CNC Operator to support programming and operations of Haas and some Fanuc milling machines. Parts fabricated on these machines will vary widely in complexity, and tolerance requirements. This role will support current development efforts and future production volume requirements and the candidate must be comfortable working in a cross-functional team including engineering, quality and manufacturing. Experience with new product introductions, first articles, lean manufacturing, cost and quality optimization is highly desired.
