About The Role:

We’re hiring a Data Operations Technician to help build the foundation for accurate and trustworthy machine learning models. You’ll join a small, focused team responsible for producing the high-quality data that powers AI-based tools. Your primary project to start with is our transcript-reading system, a tool used to interpret high school transcripts automatically.

Responsibilities:

• Build Evaluation Sets: Manually extract course information, credit weights, and grades from student transcripts to construct ground truth datasets. Calculate GPAs based on a predefined rule set.
• Human-in-the-Loop Review: Review transcripts flagged as low-confidence by our system. Use internal tools to compare the original PDF with the extracted data and make corrections as needed.
• Ensure Data Quality: Deliver work that is complete, accurate, and consistent with guidelines. Identify edge cases or ambiguity in source documents and escalate when needed.
• Meet Delivery Quotas: Deliver consistent results on a daily basis to ensure the team meets the demands of our partners.
• Collaborate Cross-Functionally: Work with our engineering and product teams to provide structured feedback about the software and suggest ways to improve internal tools or labeling workflows.

• Strong attention to detail and a track record of doing high-accuracy, repetitive work reliably
• Comfort working with structured and unstructured data, as well as digital documents
• Excellent written communication skills
• Ability to follow strict guidelines and handle edge cases with good judgment
  
  

Preferred Qualifications (Not required but bonus points if you have them!):

If you have experience working with college admissions, high school transcripts and GPA calculations, and/or other data annotations projects.
