Job summary

BAE Systems, Inc. is seeking a Manufacturing Specialist to support the development and production of military soft goods, including upholstery, cushions, and parachutes, in Phoenix, AZ.

The role involves designing seating components, training operators on sewing machines, and setting time standards for production. The ideal candidate will have 2+ years of manufacturing experience, sewing knowledge, and familiarity with military sewing standards, CAD tools, and tooling development.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of manufacturing experience.
• Sewing knowledge.
• Military standards for sewing materials.
• Manufacturing using contact adhesives.
• Programming lasers and CNC fabric cutters using CAD software (i.e. Creo, PTC, AutoCAD).
• Experience building and maintaining tooling.
• Troubleshoot mechanical issues and adjust machine parameters.
• Experience setting up and operating industrial sewing machines.
• Reading and interpreting blueprints / engineering drawings.

General Role

Provide technical support in the development and production of military soft goods such as upholstery, cushions and parachutes.

Specific Responsibilities

• Assist in the design and development of aircraft and military vehicle seating upholstery and cushions
• Train Production department leads in the operation of these industrial sewing machines: Binding machine, Serger, Walking Foot, Double Needle, Class 7 and Zig Zag
• Establish time standards
• Develop flat patterns and templates for soft goods
• Work with quality to resolve production issues and ensure customer satisfaction
• Able to read and interpret engineering drawings as they pertain to sewing
• Develop processes for cutting and bonding non-rigid polyurethane foams
• Program fabric cutters and sewing machines

Pay Information

Full-Time Salary Range: $79327 - $126924

Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
