Job summary

Chipton-Ross is seeking a Manufacturing Technician for a contract role in Long Beach, CA. The incumbent will prepare and assemble prepped wires and related components, verify specifications, and ensure quality through documentation and inspections.

The role requires adherence to drawings, BOMs, and work orders with attention to labeling accuracy and process compliance. First shift hours from 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM, full-time.

Qualifications

• Must have related work experience.
• Accredited HSD/GED required.

Responsibilities

• Cut wires to specified lengths per drawings, BOMs, and cut sheets.
• Verify wire gauge, color, and type meet specifications.
• Bundle and label cut wires for each assembly or work order.
• Strip insulation to specified lengths using approved tools and inspect ends for damage.
• Tin wire ends when required by specifications.
• Label connectors, terminals, and ferrules per drawings; ensure designations match.
• Pre-stage components per BOM; crimp terminals onto wire ends when authorized.
• Perform pull tests on crimped connections per quality standards.
• Assemble kits containing wires, connectors, and hardware for orders.
• Stage completed kits at production workstations and verify completeness.
• Conduct visual inspections and segregate non-conforming materials.
• Complete travelers, checklists, and work orders documentation accurately.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS (REQUIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE):

• Must have related work experience

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Cut wires to specified lengths according to production drawings, BOMs, and cut sheets
  Verify wire gauge, color, and type meet specification requirements
• Bundle and label cut wires for each assembly or work order
• Strip wire insulation to specified lengths using approved tools
  Inspect stripped wire ends for nicks, cuts, or conductor damage
• Tin wire ends when required by specifications
• Apply wire labels, markers, and heat-shrink identifiers per engineering drawings
  Ensure all labeling accurately matches wire run designations
• Pre-stage connectors, terminals, lugs, and ferrules according to the BOM
• Crimp terminals onto wire ends using calibrated crimping tools, when authorized
• Perform pull tests on crimped connections in accordance with quality standards
• Assemble kits containing prepped wires, connectors, and hardware for each production order
• Stage completed kits at designated production workstations
• Verify kit completeness and accuracy prior to handoff
• Conduct visual inspections of all prepared wires and assemblies
  Identify, document, and segregate non-conforming materials
• Complete required documentation on travelers, checklists, and work orders accurately and timely
