Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled Technician II to support electronic product fabrication, assembly, testing, and troubleshooting activities. The ideal candidate will have experience working with cables, chassis assemblies, electronic hardware, and test equipment while maintaining high quality and safety standards. This role requires strong technical aptitude, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced production or laboratory environment.
Key Responsibilities
Electronic Fabrication & Assembly
- Fabricate, assemble, and rework electronic hardware including cable assemblies, chassis, rack-mounted systems, and test equipment according to engineering drawings and build documentation.
- Perform advanced cable and wire harness assembly tasks, including wire stripping, crimping, connector installation, soldering, grounding, and sleeving.
- Read and interpret electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, assembly instructions, and wiring diagrams.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot assembly, workmanship, and hardware-related issues.
Testing & Quality Assurance
- Conduct continuity testing and electrical verification using digital multimeters (DMMs) and automated cable testing equipment.
- Record, analyze, and document test results accurately.
- Identify, communicate, and elevate quality concerns or out-of-specification conditions.
- Maintain high standards of workmanship to ensure product quality, reliability, and manufacturability.
Project & Operational Support
- Execute assigned tasks efficiently while meeting project schedules and cost objectives.
- Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, quality, and other cross-functional teams.
- Provide technical support and participate in overtime activities when required to support critical project deadlines.
- Follow established procedures, safety requirements, and company policies.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent required.
- Minimum 2 year of experience in electronic assembly, cable fabrication, manufacturing, testing, or a related technical field.
- Associate, Bachelor’s, or higher degree in a related discipline may be considered in lieu of some experience.
- Experience using hand tools and electronic assembly equipment.
- Ability to read and follow detailed engineering drawings, schematics, and assembly instructions.
- Basic computer and data entry skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Comfortable working in laboratory, manufacturing, production, and cleanroom environments.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with cable and wire harness fabrication.
- Knowledge of soldering standards and electronic assembly best practices.
- Familiarity with manufacturing process software, ERP/MRP systems, or related production tools.
- Previous experience performing electrical continuity testing and troubleshooting.
- Certifications or willingness to obtain certifications related to:
- J-STD-001 Soldering
- IPC/WHMA-A-620 Cable & Wire Harness Assembly
- ESD Protection
- Cleanroom Procedures
- This position requires working on-site five days per week.
- Work may be performed in office, laboratory, production, manufacturing, cleanroom, or outdoor environments.
- Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) may be required in designated work areas.
- Occasional travel between facilities or local sites may be required.
