Job summary

Curtiss-Wright Corporation is hiring for a Manufacturing Tech/Assembler on 2nd shift in Summerville, SC. You will assemble, test, fit, and disassemble assemblies and sub-assemblies including steam turbines, valves, gears, and pumps.

Candidates must be US citizens and able to obtain DoD security clearances; HS diploma required. Responsibilities include reading blueprints, setting up machines, performing precision assemblies, and conducting hydrostatic and steam tests.

Qualifications

  • Must be US citizen due to DoD requirements.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain DoD security clearances.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to operate material handling equipment and set up machines.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, layouts, and process worksheets.
  • Familiarity with precision measuring equipment (micrometers, calipers, height gauges).
  • Experience with a variety of shop tools and equipment (lathes, drills, riveters, grinders).
  • Lift 50 pounds and move 10 feet as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Read and interpret written and verbal work instructions and drawings.
  • Set up work areas and machines and obtain required tools and fixtures.
  • Follow procedures to perform assembling, machining, balancing and riveting operations.
  • Inspect and record dimensions and tolerances during and after assembly.
  • Notify inspectors and support quality checks as required.
  • Set up and operate equipment for steam testing and hydrostatic tests.

Obtain all tools, fixtures and relocation equipment to perform work.* Follow established operational procedures to perform all functions such as assembly, machine, balance, rivet, etc.* Work to close tolerances on interrelated dimensions. Examine work scope noting dimensions, tolerances, required tools and operations. Determine need for inspection to check fits, clearances, etc. prior to, during and after assembly.* Notify inspectors as required.
