Job summary

ST Engineering in North Carolina is seeking a Team Leader who will primarily perform the direct functions of the department (assembly, welding, fabricating, painting, etc.) and assist the Coordinator/Supervisor in delivering department goals. The Team Leader will train on 1st Shift and transfer to 2nd Shift (expected January 2027).

• Excellent attendance record required; must maintain an average of less than 6 points and work overtime.
• Good working knowledge of all department processes, standards, procedures, and equipment.
• History of exceptional work performance.
• Ability to lead employees and delegate tasks.
• Ability to conceptualize workflow and adjust mid-stream.
• Understands quality controls and continuous improvement.
• Pre-planning ability to identify potential issues.
• Good communication skills.
• Must be a team player.

Responsibilities

• Perform direct function of the department and set a performance example while meeting throughput and quality goals.
• Interpret shop orders and drawings to instruct coworkers.
• Provide encouragement and corrections to unsafe or unproductive work, with documentation.
• Generate ideas to improve products and processes.
• Help train new workers in the department.
• Identify problems and help solve them quickly and effectively.
• Promote 5S principles for order and housekeeping.
• Provide input on employee performance evaluations.
• Work closely with Coordinator/Supervisor to ensure material shortages are communicated and parts staged.
• Inspect products to ensure quality standards are met.
• Equitably divide workload amongst the team.
• Follow instructions from other Team Leaders when lines are down.
