Job summary

Rapiscan, an OSI Systems Company, seeks a Manufacturing Systems Engineer III in Billerica, MA to design, implement, and optimize manufacturing systems for efficiency, quality, and cost reduction. You will collaborate with engineering, quality, operations, and IT to ensure system integration across MES, ERP, and automation platforms.

The ideal candidate brings a Bachelor's in a related field and 5+ years in manufacturing systems, with Lean/Six Sigma expertise and strong problem-solving.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
• 5+ years in manufacturing systems engineering or related role.
• Strong knowledge of MES, ERP systems, and automation technologies.
• Proficiency in Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain manufacturing systems to support production goals and quality standards.
• Lead projects focused on process improvement, automation, and system integration.
• Analyze production data to identify bottlenecks and implement corrective actions.
• Collaborate with engineering, design, quality, operations, and IT teams to ensure manufacturability, system compatibility, and compliance.
• Support implementation and integration of MES and ERP systems.
• Ensure adherence to safety, regulatory, and quality standards in all manufacturing processes.
• Prepare and maintain documentation, SOPs, and training materials for system operations.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and technicians.

• Create and maintain detailed technical work instructions within a controlled process environment.
• Perform requirements analysis, system architecture design, and integration across mechanical, electrical, and software domains.
• Interpret electrical schematics and wiring diagrams and support lifecycle management.
• Configure and troubleshoot networking for connected systems, including IP addressing, subnetting, and basic network diagnostics.
• Execute scripts for system configuration and deployment in production environments.
• Install and configure software packages on deployment systems, ensuring compatibility across hardware and software platforms.
• Administer Windows and Linux operating systems, including command-line tools and system basics.
• Troubleshoot installation issues and maintain system reliability.
• Work with PLCs and industrial control systems to support automation and process control.

The Manufacturing Systems Engineer III is responsible for designing, implementing, and optimizing manufacturing systems and processes to improve efficiency, quality, and cost-effectiveness. Pay may range $110,000 to $125,000 annually

The pay range above represents annual base salary only. Final compensation will be determined based on factors such as your job level, geographic location, date of hire, experience, job-related knowledge and skills, and education in conjunction with market and business considerations.

Base salary is one component of your total rewards package. You may be eligible for long-term incentives, potential discretionary bonuses, and the ability to purchase company stock at a discounted rate through the Employee Stock Purchase Program (ESPP).
