Job summary

Carpenter Technology Corporation, a leading producer of premium specialty alloys, is seeking a Manufacturing Supervisor - VIM to guide and supervise the production team on rotating shifts in Reading, PA.

You will plan, schedule and coordinate activities, enforce safety and quality standards, address issues on the shop floor, and work with colleagues to meet department objectives in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Strong organizational skills and clear communication are essential.

Qualifications

• Two-year college degree preferred.
• 2+ years of supervisory experience in a manufacturing/operational environment preferred.
• Ability to work 3 rotating shifts and weekends.
• Excellent written and verbal communications skills, problem solving skills, good business judgment and decision making skills.
• Working understanding of industrial/manufacturing standards and practices with demonstrated leadership ability.
• Ability to identify and resolve operational problems using defined processes, expertise and judgement.

Responsibilities

• Provide production employees with guidance, direction and supervision in support of departmental operations.
• Promptly address performance issues.
• Actively promote all company policies and expectations, especially in support of safety plans and results.
• Plan and schedule operations within assigned area of responsibility.
• Maintain a positive work environment by regularly communicating with employees on the shop floor and responding to employee issues and concerns in a timely manner.
• Maintain well-organized and productive work areas.
• Work with others to achieve department and company goals and objectives.
• Coordinate and supervise the daily activities of the production team.
• Set priorities for the team to ensure task completion; coordinate work activities with other supervisors.
• Decisions are guided by policies, procedures and business plan; receive guidance and oversight from manager.
• Ensure a safe workplace.
• Promote ways to improve quality of life and protect the environment in the communities where the company does business.
• Perform all other duties and projects as assigned.
