Job summary

Atkore is seeking a Manufacturing Supervisor - Night shift for the Houston, TX plant. Reporting to the Production Manager, you will oversee night shift operations and manage the shop floor to improve the facility’s operational performance.

The ideal candidate has a Bachelor's degree or 5+ years in manufacturing, with exposure to lean methods and ERP systems such as AS400/JD Edwards. Atkore emphasizes teamwork, safety, and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or 5+ years manufacturing experience.
• AS400 and/or JD Edwards ERP experience preferred.
• Six Sigma/Lean Management experience preferred.
• Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office.
• Experience in powered-press, plating, and/or manual packing and picking operations.
• Able to work with minimal supervision and set priorities.

Responsibilities

• Supervise hourly manufacturing team members.
• Schedule and assign work tasks to meet production goals and objectives.
• Create and modify standardized work and ensure consistent application by all team members.
• Provide technical expertise in all responsible areas.
• Ensure products are prepared according to requirements and ready for on-time delivery.
• Maintain ERP system, develop and maintain master data.
• Coordinate between Planning, Scheduling, and Operations to achieve KPI goals.
• Maintain KPI reporting and participate in Lean Daily Management activities.
• Maintain delivery-tracking metrics to ensure strong customer service.
• Identify and execute Kaizen opportunities and team planning.
• Partner with EHS/HR to resolve issues and implement corrective measures.
• Uphold company policies, procedures, and housekeeping practices.
• Foster a fair labor relations environment and teamwork.
• Be adaptable to overtime and weekend scheduling when supervision is required.

Who we are looking for

We are currently searching for a Manufacturing Supervisor - Night shift to be based out of the Houston, TX plant. Reporting to the Production Manager, this person will oversee Night shift operations. This person will be responsible for managing the functions of the shop floor to aid and improve the operational performance of the facility. Experience in lean manufacturing or business system-based company is a plus.

What you’ll do

• Supervise hourly manufacturing team members
• Schedule and assign work tasks to meet production goals and objectives
• Create and modify standardized work and ensure consistent application by all team members
• Provide technical expertise in all responsible areas
• Ensure products are prepared according to requirements and ready for on-time delivery
• Maintain ERP system, develop and maintain master data
• Ensure coordination between Planning, Scheduling, and Operations to achieve KPI goals
• Maintain and be accountable for KPI reporting while actively participating in Lean Daily Management activities
• Maintain Daily, Weekly, and Monthly tracking of delivery metrics to ensure strong customer service
• Identify and execute opportunities for improvement through Kaizen and team-planning participation
• Partner with EHS and/or HR support to investigate, resolve, and provide corrective measures for accidents, injuries, production, and personnel issues
• Uphold and enforce company policies, procedures, and housekeeping practices
• Maintain consistent and fair labor relations
• Facilitate a work environment that encourages teamwork and promotes high levels of self-esteem and winning attitudes
• All other duties as assigned

What you’ll bring

• Bachelor’s degree or 5+ years' relevant work experience, manufacturing experience preferred
• AS400 and/or JD Edwards ERP experience preferred
• Six Sigma/Lean Management experience preferred
• Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
• Experience in powered-press, plating, and/or manual packing and picking operations preferred
• Functional knowledge of general Manufacturing, Engineering, Quality, and business processes
• Ability to work under minimal supervision, plan workload and establish work priorities
• Ability to communicate effectively and comfortably with all organizational levels, both written and verbal
• Flexibility of shift scheduling, to include overtime and weekends, when supervision is required

Within 3 months, you’ll

• Update training materials and procedures.
• Partner with Safety and HR to investigate and provide corrective measures for on-the-job accidents, injuries, production issues, and HR issues.

Within 12 months, you’ll

• Be managing an efficient team that delivers Atkore’s strategy.
• Creating and updating reports, training materials and documentation.
• Have meaningful performance conversations with your direct reports.
• Be able to resolve any issues quickly and safely
