Job summary

Clarios, LLC’s Toledo plant is seeking a Manufacturing Supervisor to lead daily production, ensure safety and quality, and maintain staffing to meet goals on the 2nd shift.

You will train staff, manage labor costs, enforce policies, and drive continuous improvement through Lean, 5S, and Six Sigma practices; prior battery experience helpful.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 3+ years’ experience in manufacturing environment.
  • Minimum 1+ year managing employees in manufacturing setting.
  • Proficiency in Windows and Microsoft Office required.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and decision making ability.
  • Must be able to work any assigned shift and overtime.
  • Lean, 5S and Six Sigma experience desirable.
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain, Engineering, or related field.
  • Lead Acid battery experience helpful but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Train production personnel to perform work safely and efficiently.
  • Maintain good employee relations through coaching and policy application.
  • Requisition operating personnel to meet goals.
  • Maintain database information on employee training and certification.
  • Administer production salary/wage policy for operating personnel.
  • Enforce health, environmental and safety standards and housekeeping policies.
  • Arrange for proper maintenance of machines and equipment.
  • Report daily KPI indicators: production, scrap, safety, and quality.
  • Investigate material variances and suggest improvements.
  • Encourage process, procedure and equipment improvements.
  • Audit Standard Work Practices and review effectiveness.
  • Assign work to meet daily manufacturing requirements; control labor/material usage.
  • Familiarize personnel with company rules and regulations.
  • Recommend improvements on machines, equipment, and procedures.
  • Overtime may be required to meet internal/external customer requirements.

What you will do

The Manufacturing Supervisor is responsible for ensuring that production requirements are met, appropriate staffing levels are maintained, employee relations are good, and a safe/clean work environment is maintained. You will plan, direct, coordinate and control manufacturing activities in assigned work area to achieve established management goals. Shift: 2nd Shift - 2:30 PM - 11:30 PM

How you will do it
  • Trains production personnel to perform work assignments safely and efficiently.
  • Maintains good employee relations through coaching and consistent application of employee relation policies.
  • Requisitions operating personnel to meet established goals.
  • May maintain accurate database information regarding employee training and certification.
  • Administers production salary/wage policy for operating personnel properly.
  • Administers and enforces health, environmental and safety standards, work practices and housekeeping policies and procedures.
  • Arranges for proper maintenance of machines and equipment.
  • Reports daily KPI indicators, including production, scrap, safety, and quality.
  • Investigates material variances, reports results of investigation and recommends improvements.
  • Solicits and encourages process, procedure and equipment improvements from team members.
  • May audit Standard Work Practices for each area and regularly reviews them for effectiveness through team meetings and practice.
  • Assign work to meet daily manufacturing requirements and control labor and material usage to meet or improve standard costs.
  • Familiarize personnel with Company rules and regulations.
  • Recommend improvements on machines, equipment, job methods and procedures.
  • Overtime is required to meet internal and external customer requirements.
What we look for
  • Required Minimum 3+ years’ experience in manufacturing environment required.
  • Minimum 1+ year managing employees in manufacturing setting required.
  • Proficiency in a Windows operating environment, including e-mail and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) is required.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and decision making ability.
  • Must be able to work any assigned shift and required overtime.
  • Preferred Experience applying Lean manufacturing, 5S, utilizing Six Sigma is desirable.
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain, Engineering, or related field required.
  • Previous Lead Acid battery experience is helpful but not required.
