Job summary

DeWys Manufacturing, Inc. is seeking a Manufacturing Buyer in Marne, MI to manage subcontracting, outside services, and purchasing activities alongside the Materials Manager.

The role focuses on subcontract work from RFQ through delivery and closeout, with an emphasis on reading engineering drawings and coordinating with suppliers. This practical position rewards strong manufacturing knowledge, reading drawings, and the ability to juggle multiple priorities while engaging with Engineering,

Qualifications

• 2-5 years of manufacturing, estimating, production coordination, or related technical experience is required.
• Metal fabrication, subcontract coordination, purchasing, outside processing, supplier quality follow-up, and inventory transaction experience are preferred.
• Purchasing training is available for candidates with a strong manufacturing background.

Responsibilities

• Own subcontract projects. Coordinate scope, drawing packages, quotations, approvals, purchase orders, supplier progress, shipments, completed-part delivery, and order closeout.
• Review technical requirements. Read drawings, BOMs, and routings to confirm revisions, quantities, tolerances, material specifications, finishes, and customer requirements.
• Coordinate suppliers and quotations. Compare pricing, lead times, capacity, process capability, quality, tooling, and freight.
• Manage outside services. Coordinate plating, powder coating, e-coat, heat treating, deburring, and other processes; confirm specs and schedules.
• Purchase MRO and miscellaneous items. Obtain quotes, place orders, confirm delivery, resolve discrepancies.
• Support supplier quality resolution. Coordinate NCMRs, corrective-action requests, supplier responses, returns, rework, and credits.
• Investigate material holds and inventory discrepancies. Review holds, shortages, quantities; coordinate counts and recovery actions; escalate exceptions.
• Source new parts for Estimating. Obtain quotes for purchased parts and services; communicate pricing and sourcing risks for proposals.
• Maintain accurate purchasing information in ERP/MRP; resolve discrepancies with suppliers and internal teams.
• Communicate risks and improve processes; support recovery actions and continuous improvement.
