Job summary

Elgin Industries, Inc. is seeking a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our Finance team in Elgin, Illinois.

This role emphasizes accurate accounting, monthly close responsibilities, and delivering meaningful financial information for a manufacturing and distribution business. The Staff Accountant will support journal entries, reconciliations, financial reporting, and cost accounting, working with Finance and Operations to maintain internal controls and provide timely insights for

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field.
2–3 years of general accounting experience including month-end close, journal entries, and reconciliations.
Manufacturing or cost accounting experience preferred.
Strong Excel/data manipulation skills.
Experience with ERP or accounting systems preferred.
Strong analytical and communication skills with non-financial staff.
Attention to detail and ability to meet monthly close deadlines.

Responsibilities

Prepare monthly journal entries, accruals, reconciliations, and schedules.
Maintain and reconcile general ledger and balance sheet accounts.
Prepare supporting schedules for income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
Reconcile accounts payable, accounts receivable, and related GL activity.
Prepare monthly financial reporting support and variance explanations.
Maintain standard cost support, inventory valuations, and manufacturing variances.
Participate in physical inventory and cycle counts.
Support budgeting, forecasting, and operational reviews.
