Job summary

JLG, an Oshkosh company, seeks a Manufacturing Engineering Simulation Intern to support discrete-event modeling and digital twin development. You will collaborate with engineering to identify bottlenecks, test production scenarios, and link digital twins using FlexSim, Emulate3D, and Omniverse.

You will analyze cycle times, configurations, and operator movements to improve throughput, using Python and CAD tools. Office and field work, with exposure to PLC data and real-time sensors, is expected.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in data analytics, industrial/manufacturing, mechanical engineering, or computer science.
• GPA 3.0 or above.
• Preferred MS/PhD with Digital Twins, Industrial simulation, Controls or Robotics focus.
• Experience or coursework in discrete event simulations (FlexSim, Emulate3D, Omniverse).
• Strong programming in Python; NVIDIA Omniverse Kit apps/extensions/microservices preferred.
• Basic understanding of PLCs, sensors/IoT data.
• Familiar with lean manufacturing or six sigma.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with engineering to build discrete event simulation models to identify bottlenecks and test production scenarios.
• Develop and link digital twins of manufacturing cells and robotics using FlexSim, Emulate3D, and Omniverse.
• Analyze cycle times, station configurations, and operator movements to balance lines.
• Use real-time sensor/PLC data to feed live inputs into simulations and Ignition dashboards.
• Create and revise 2D/3D plant layouts with AutoCAD for simulation setup and material flow.
• Research and test new digital factory tools and automation technologies.
• Participate in cross-functional continuous improvement and time studies.
• All other duties as assigned.
