Job summary

Grifols is seeking a Director of Manufacturing Science to lead the Manufacturing Support Department in California. You will provide strategic and tactical input for existing product manufacture, drive tech transfer from R&D, and oversee pilot plant, tech writing, product engineering, and process improvement initiatives.

Qualifications

• Minimum 15 years of industrial experience with B.Sc./M.Sc. or ≥10 years with Ph.D. in Biochemical or Chemical Engineering, Biology or related discipline.
• Minimum of 8 years supervisory experience.
• Experience leading multiple overlapping projects with complex interactions and a track record of timely completion.
• Leadership of a department of technical staff.
• Knowledge of cGMP environments and lifecycle process and cleaning validation requirements.
• Excellent communication skills, especially technical writing and presentations.
• Excellent time management and project management skills.
• Proven ability to build highly effective teams.
• Strong cross-functional stakeholder relationship skills.

Responsibilities

• Develops MS strategies and roadmap for implementing process/equipment improvements and troubleshooting existing process issues.
• Serves as SME for overlap of process, equipment, manufacturing technique and underlying science in our products.
• Provides technical and scientific input into cleaning and process validations, NCR investigations and ongoing training of manufacturing personnel.
• Leads tech transfer from R&D and implementation into full-scale manufacturing production, including process development when required.
• Leads engineering and full-scale investigation runs for NCR investigations and process/equipment changes.
• Evaluates process improvements/modifications between existing manufacturing operations and key project teams.
• Manages internal and external manufacturing project initiatives and ensures on-time, on-budget delivery.
• Provides ongoing coaching to staff and measures team effectiveness.
• Drives continuous improvement and cross-functional projects; collaborates to lower cost of goods and improve robustness.
• Builds strong working relationships with cross-functional stakeholders and supports regulatory inspections.
