IES Infrastructure in Abilene, TX seeks a proactive Safety Manager to lead safety and compliance at our manufacturing facility. You will develop and implement programs to create a safe workplace for employees, contractors, and visitors.

This role oversees policy enforcement, inspections, training, incident investigations, and regulatory reporting (OSHA/EPA). You will drive metrics, promote a strong safety culture, and coordinate with HR, QA, and operations to reduce risk.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • 5+ years of safety management in manufacturing.
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA 1910 and EH&S standards.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and enforce safety policies and procedures in compliance with regulations (OSHA, EPA).
  • Lead and manage programs such as LOTO, Confined Space Entry, Hazard Communication, PPE, and Machine Guarding.
  • Conduct regular safety inspections, audits, risk assessments, and JHAs.
  • Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses; perform root cause analysis and corrective actions.
  • Maintain records of safety inspections, incidents, and training in regulatory compliance.
  • Coordinate and deliver safety training programs for new hires, ongoing employee development, and contractors.
  • Monitor and report safety metrics (TRIR, DART, near-miss trends) to senior leadership.
  • Promote a strong safety culture across all shifts and departments through leadership and engagement.
  • Prepare for and manage emergency response; coordinate with external agencies as needed.
  • Ensure proper use and maintenance of safety equipment and PPE.
  • Manage workers’ compensation cases and coordinate with HR and insurance providers.

Job description

We are seeking a proactive and experienced Safety Manager to lead our safety and compliance efforts at our manufacturing facility located in Abilene, TX The ideal candidate will be responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining safety programs to ensure a safe and compliant workplace for all employees, contractors, and visitors.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and enforce safety policies and procedures in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations (e.g., OSHA, EPA).
  • Lead and manage programs such as Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), Confined Space Entry, Hazard Communication, PPE, and Machine Guarding.
  • Conduct regular safety inspections, audits, risk assessments, and job hazard analyses (JHAs).
  • Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses; perform root cause analysis and implement corrective actions.
  • Maintain records of safety inspections, incidents, and training in accordance with regulatory requirements.
  • Coordinate and deliver safety training programs for new hires, ongoing employee development, and contractors.
  • Monitor and report safety metrics (e.g., TRIR, DART, near-miss trends) to senior leadership.
  • Promote a strong safety culture across all shifts and departments through leadership, visibility, and engagement.
  • Prepare for and manage emergency response situations; coordinate with external agencies as needed.
  • Ensure proper use and maintenance of safety equipment and PPE.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 5+ years of safety management experience in a manufacturing, steel, automotive, or industrial environment.
  • In-depth knowledge of OSHA 1910 regulations and best practices in industrial safety.
  • Strong understanding of environmental health and safety standards, industrial hygiene, and ergonomics.
  • Excellent communication, training, and leadership skills.
  • Proficient in incident investigation and root cause analysis methodologies.
