Job summary

Anduril Industries is seeking a Manufacturing Safety Engineering leader in Costa Mesa, CA to build and scale the safety discipline across manufacturing sites. You will define risk-assessment processes, drive adoption, and partner with EHS, controls, and production leadership to keep hazards controlled on the floor.

This hands-on technical leadership role requires deep expertise in machine safety, risk assessment, and OSHA standards, with the ability to set strategy and maintain senior authority

Qualifications

• B.S. degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Manufacturing, Industrial, or Safety Engineering.
• 10+ years of manufacturing/machine safety experience with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
• Experience building, scaling, and managing technical teams and engineering processes.
• Deep expertise in formal machine and task-based risk assessment and machine safeguarding.
• Strong knowledge of OSHA 29 CFR 1910 general-industry requirements.
• Eligibility to pursue and maintain a U.S. security clearance.

Responsibilities

• Build and scale the Manufacturing Safety Engineering team.
• Define risk-assessment framework and processes.
• Drive adoption of the safety framework across sites and establish standards.
• Define vision, goals, roadmap, and operating model for the discipline.
• Own safety metrics and executive-level reporting; represent the discipline to leadership and stakeholders.
• Manage resources, budget, tooling, and external partnerships (EHS, controls, certification).
• Serve as the senior technical authority for high-consequence hazards.
• Lead formal risk assessments on production equipment, fixtures, and processes.
• Review work instructions and embed required controls and safe-work steps.
• Engineer and review safety-related equipment and test setups.
• Apply hierarchy of controls to eliminate hazards at design and production stages.
• Define functional-safety requirements for safety-related control systems.
