Job summary

Anduril Industries is seeking a Manufacturing Safety Engineer to join the team in Costa Mesa, CA. You will apply formal risk assessment methods to production equipment, lift fixtures, tests, and work instructions, identifying hazards and engineering them out with EHS and controls teams.

The role focuses on designing safety into production lines, defining functional-safety requirements for control systems, and guiding incident investigations with cross-functional partners.

Qualifications

• B.S. degree in mechanical, electrical, manufacturing, industrial, or safety engineering or equivalent.
• 7+ years of experience in manufacturing/machine safety with ownership of risk assessments.
• Hands-on experience with formal machine and task-based risk assessments and hierarchy of controls.
• Working knowledge of OSHA 29 CFR 1910 general-industry requirements (machine guarding and LOTO).
• Experience developing JHAs and translating risk findings into work instructions, controls and training.
• Experience designing safety into production or test equipment with EHS collaboration.
• Excellent communication and cross-functional influence on the factory floor and with engineering teams.
• Eligibility to pursue and maintain a U.S. security clearance.

Responsibilities

• Lead formal machine and task-based risk assessments on production equipment, fixtures, tooling, and processes.
• Review manufacturing work instructions and training material; author JHAs and embed controls, PPE, and safe-work steps.
• Engineer and review production equipment safety in partnership with EHS and controls engineering; support proof-load testing.
• Assess and design safety into production test equipment.
• Apply hierarchy of controls and prevention-by-design in early stage design.
• Define functional-safety requirements for safety-related control systems and verify implementation.
• Ensure engineering controls satisfy OSHA 29 CFR 1910 requirements.
• Support incident and near-miss investigations and drive corrective engineering actions.
