Job summary

Kids for the Future seeks a Manufacturing Quality & Process Engineer to develop and improve manufacturing processes and quality systems ensuring safe, efficient operations meeting Customer and regulatory requirements.

The role acts as liaison between manufacturing, engineering, customers and suppliers, leading Lean and Six Sigma initiatives to enhance product quality, reduce waste, and ensure ISO 9001 and AS9100 compliance across the division.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Industrial, or Manufacturing Engineering and 2–5 years industrial experience.
  • Experience applying Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma to improve process capability and quality.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and maintain quality standards, inspection methods and procedures.
  • Lead deployment of QMS per ISO 9001 and AS9100 requirements and drive continuous improvement.
  • Design and optimize manufacturing processes, tooling, and equipment for efficiency.

Description

SUMMARY

The Manufacturing Quality & Process Engineer is responsible for developing, implementing, and improving manufacturing processes and quality systems to ensure safe, efficient, and cost-effective operations that meet customer and regulatory requirements. This position serves as the primary liaison between manufacturing, engineering, customers, and suppliers on quality-related matters while also driving continuous improvement initiatives throughout the division.

The role combines quality assurance, process engineering, operational excellence, and new product introduction responsibilities. The Manufacturing Quality & Process Engineer leads efforts to improve product quality, increase manufacturing efficiency, reduce waste, optimize equipment and processes, and support compliance with ISO 9001 and AS9100 quality standards. Working cross-functionally with production, engineering, and management teams, this position utilizes Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and problem‑solving methodologies to improve overall business performance and customer satisfaction.

Key Areas of Responsibility
Quality Management & Assurance

Develop, implement, and maintain quality standards, inspection methods, testing procedures, and evaluation systems.

Lead deployment and continual improvement of the Quality Management System (QMS) in accordance with ISO 9001 and AS9100 requirements.

Develop sampling plans, quality metrics, and reporting systems to monitor product and process performance.

Manage corrective and preventive action processes, warranty claims, RMAs, VOC programs, and nonconforming material disposition.

Coordinate internal and external audits and support customer and regulatory compliance activities.

Serve as the primary quality liaison with customers and suppliers.

Manufacturing & Process Engineering

Design, analyze, and optimize manufacturing processes, workflows, equipment, tooling, jigs, and fixtures.

Support new product introductions by developing manufacturing methods, process parameters, and production readiness plans.

Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective actions for production, quality, and equipment issues.

Develop standard work instructions, process documentation, capacity studies, and manufacturing specifications.

Evaluate and improve production equipment, testing systems, and measurement processes.

Lead Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and other continuous improvement initiatives.

Identify opportunities to improve productivity, capacity, quality, and cost performance.

Analyze operational data to drive process improvements and support business decisions.

Facilitate cross‑functional improvement projects and employee engagement in quality initiatives.

No direct reports. Plan, execute and lead cross functional teams by influence to complete improvement initiatives.

QUALIFICATIONS Individual

m ust possess a working understanding of metal fabrication, machining, and final assembly. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

4 year – bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Industrial, or Manufacturing Engineering and 2 - 5 years industrial experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format. Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors. Professional and competently grammatical use of English.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

The Engineer must be proficient in the use of arithmetic, algebra, applied geometry, trigonometry, and statistics principles. An academic understanding of functions and calculus is a plus. Willingness to learn where deficient is mandatory.

COMPUTER SKILLS

Must be fluent in ERM systems such as Syteline, as well as MSWord, MS Excel, Internet Explorer, MS Outlook, MS Project, MS Access, MS PowerPoint.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

None required but any that are applicable will be considered. Additional certifications related to manufacturing specialization, training and facilitation, project management, and/or problem identification and resolution preferred.

Certified welding engineer status preferred.

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Must demonstrate skills at listening, public speaking, problem solving, and customer relations. Traveling and off – site work will be needed from time to time.

OTHER QUALIFICATIONS

This person must be able to communicate well, respect and follow defined chains of authority, and demonstrate initiative. In addition, the Engineer must work as an agent of change and improvement within the organization.
