Job summary

U.S. Cargo Systems in North Carolina seeks a Manufacturing/Process Engineer to lead continuous improvement and insourcing initiatives, driving cost reductions and production efficiency across multiple lines.

You will design tooling and fixtures with CAD tools, develop and implement process standards, review manufacturability, and collaborate with design and operations to optimize material and labor costs while ensuring safety, quality, and reliability.

Qualifications

  • BS in Mechanical, Aerospace, Manufacturing or Industrial Engineering.
  • Lean Six Sigma Green Belt preferred.
  • Proven track record of executing continuous improvement projects.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, SolidWorks and/or Pro-E.
  • Fluency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint).

Responsibilities

  • Drive projects aligned with continuous improvement and insourcing goals.
  • Apply continuous improvement methodologies to establish process standards and identify required technologies.
  • Design and prototype tooling and fixtures to support efficient production.
  • Develop process standards and to reduce overall inefficiencies in material and labor cost while meeting/exceeding quality and reliability objectives.
  • Review released drawings for manufacturability and safety considerations, implement changes in electronic work instructions, process routings, BOMs, tooling and fixturing.
  • Support the production floor in blueprint interpretation, redlines as required, submits drawing change requests and rework coordination as required.
  • Support design engineering with design to cost and design to manufacturability exercises in bids, prototypes and existing designs.
  • Draft and design equipment and tooling using CAD tools such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or Pro-E.

Position Summary

This position will play a critical role in driving operational excellence through cost reduction initiatives, automation, tooling and fixturing, with a high focus on insourcing opportunities and production process optimization.

Duties & Responsibilities

Preferred Education and Experience
  • Bachelor of Science degree (B.S.) from four-year college or university in Mechanical, Aerospace, Manufacturing or Industrial engineering.
  • Lean Six Sigma Green Belt Certification preferred.
  • Proven track record of executing continuous improvement projects.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, SolidWorks and/or Pro-E.
  • Fluency in Microsoft Office suite, (i.e., Outlook, Excel, word, PowerPoint)

This position requires access to export control information. To conform to US Export Control regulations, the applicant should be eligible for any required authorization from the US Government.
