Job summary

US Cargo Systems in North Carolina is seeking an engineer to drive operational excellence through cost reduction, automation, tooling and fixturing, with a strong focus on insourcing opportunities and production process optimization.

The role requires applying lean methods to establish standards, design tooling (AutoCAD/SolidWorks/Pro-E) and review manufacturing drawings for manufacturability and safety, while supporting design-to-cost initiatives.

Qualifications

• B.S. in Mechanical, Aerospace, Manufacturing or Industrial engineering.
• Lean Six Sigma Green Belt Certification preferred.
• Proven track record of executing continuous improvement projects.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, SolidWorks and/or Pro-E.
• Fluency in Microsoft Office suite.

Responsibilities

• Drive projects aligned with continuous improvement and insourcing goals.
• Apply continuous improvement methodologies to establish process standards and identify required technologies.
• Design and prototype tooling and fixtures to support efficient production.
• Develop process standards and to reduce overall inefficiencies in material and labor cost while meeting/exceeding quality and reliability objectives
• Reviews released drawings for manufacturability and safety considerations, implements changes in electronic work instructions, process routings, BOMs, tooling and fixturing
• Supports the production floor in blueprint interpretation, redlines as required, submits drawing change requests and rework coordination as required
• Supports design engineering with design to cost and design to manufacturability exercises in bids, prototypes and existing designs
• Draft and design equipment and tooling using CAD tools such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or Pro-E.
• All other duties as assigned.

Preferred Education And Experience

• Bachelor of Science degree (B.S.) from four-year college or university in Mechanical, Aerospace, Manufacturing or Industrial engineering.
• Lean Six Sigma Green Belt Certification preferred.
• Proven track record of executing continuous improvement projects.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, SolidWorks and/or Pro-E.
• Fluency in Microsoft Office suite, (i.e., Outlook, Excel, word, PowerPoint)
