Leidos Defense Systems Mission Assurance seeks a Manufacturing Quality Engineer to serve as the quality engineering focal point on the production floor, owning process control, inspection, and product acceptance as manufacturing scales to rate. This hands-on role sits in Huntsville, AL and collaborates across manufacturing, engineering, and quality teams to ensure compliant, inspectable work.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related technical discipline is required.
• Four (4+) years of hands-on quality engineering in manufacturing or production environments.
• Working knowledge of AS9100/ISO 9001, AS9102 FAI, GD&T, and quality assurance requirements.
• Experience with root-cause analysis and corrective action methodologies (8D, 5-Why, fishbone).

Responsibilities

• Serve as the quality engineering point of contact for assigned production areas and processes.
• Establish in-process inspection points, acceptance criteria, and objective evidence requirements.
• Develop and monitor special and key manufacturing processes (welding, composites, coatings, heat treat, bonding).
• Support process qualification, tooling acceptance, and gauge/metrology selection.
• Lead root-cause analysis and drive continuous improvement to reduce defects and rework.
• Review work instructions to ensure they are executable and inspectable and drive updates with Engineering.
• Provide day-to-day technical direction to Inspectors and Technicians and support audits.
