Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Chemical, Electrical, Industrial, or related Engineering.
  • At least 5 years of engineering experience supporting manufacturing operations and capital projects.
  • Proven ability to deliver projects safely, on schedule, and within budget.
  • Strong knowledge of P&IDs, electrical schematics, control system drawings, and AutoCAD.
  • Lean manufacturing, TPM, or similar continuous-improvement experience.
  • Excellent cross-functional communication and collaboration skills.

Your role at Clorox:

As a Plant Engineer, you'll play a key role in supporting safe, reliable, and efficient manufacturing operations by providing technical leadership and engineering expertise across the site.

In this role, you'll lead capital projects from concept through startup, drive continuous improvement initiatives, and help optimize manufacturing processes, including bulk material handling, processing, packaging, utilities, and facility systems.

You'll partner closely with Operations, Maintenance, Quality, and Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) teams to improve equipment performance, manufacturing capability, asset reliability, and cost efficiency, while ensuring compliance with safety, quality, environmental, and regulatory standards.

In this role, you will:
Project Management
  • Lead complex capital projects involving processing systems, material handling, and packaging equipment from concept through startup and project closeout.
  • Serve as a trusted technical resource for Operations and Maintenance teams, providing engineering expertise to support safe and reliable manufacturing.
  • Identify and implement engineering solutions that improve safety, quality, reliability, operability, and manufacturing efficiency.
  • Lead technical problem-solving efforts, including root cause investigations, equipment troubleshooting, and feasibility studies.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives that reduce losses and improve operational performance.
  • Build strong partnerships with internal technical teams, equipment suppliers, engineering firms, contractors, and key business partners to ensure successful project execution.
  • Manage project scope, schedules, budgets, technical specifications, purchasing activities, and contractor performance.
  • Drive project alignment and operational readiness to ensure successful implementation and sustainable results.
  • Share technical knowledge and best practices while helping build a culture of learning, innovation, and continuous improvement.
  • Apply Clorox Early Management principles and the One-Right-Way project management process throughout project execution.
  • Serve as the site's Combustible Dust Program Coordinator.
  • Support Process Safety Management (PSM) initiatives and site safety programs.
  • Support Quality Systems internal audits and compliance activities.
  • Maintain compliance reporting for environmental permits, including water, air, and waste requirements.
  • Serve as the site owner for security-related engineering processes and programs.
Technical Leadership & Collaboration
  • Provide day-to-day technical guidance and engineering support to manufacturing operations.
  • Analyze operational data to identify opportunities to eliminate waste and improve performance.
  • Partner with Operations to implement engineering best practices and improve manufacturing capability.
  • Collaborate closely with Operations, Maintenance, Quality, Reliability, and EHS teams to deliver safe, reliable, and cost-effective manufacturing systems.
What we look for:
Required Qualifications & Skills
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Chemical, Electrical, Industrial, or a related Engineering discipline, or equivalent Plant Engineering experience in lieu of a degree.
  • At least 5 years of engineering experience supporting manufacturing operations, capital projects, and continuous improvement in a manufacturing environment.
  • Demonstrated success leading capital projects through all phases, including scope development, design, procurement, construction, commissioning, startup, and project closeout. Proven ability to deliver projects safely, on schedule, and within budget while managing project budgets, schedules, contractors, and external vendors.
  • Strong knowledge of engineering documentation, including P&IDs, electrical schematics, control system drawings, equipment layouts, instrumentation diagrams, and AutoCAD.
  • Working knowledge of equipment reliability, preventive and predictive maintenance, asset management, and continuous improvement methodologies such as Lean Manufacturing, TPM, Early Management, or similar systems.
  • Strong analytical, project management, organizational, and decision‑making skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively partner with Operations, Maintenance, Quality, EHS, contractors, suppliers, and cross‑functional stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence cross‑functional teams, build strong partnerships, and drive sustainable operational improvements.
  • Results‑oriented mindset with a strong commitment to safety, quality, reliability, operational excellence, and continuous improvement.
Preferred Qualifications & Skills
  • Experience supporting manufacturing systems, including process equipment, bulk material handling, packaging systems, utilities, and facility infrastructure.
  • Experience supporting consumer products, chemical processing, food, pharmaceutical, or other highly regulated manufacturing environments.
  • Experience working within Process Safety Management (PSM), Management of Change (MOC), and manufacturing safety, environmental, quality, and regulatory compliance programs. Proficiency with SAP or other Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems.
  • Experience with industrial automation, including PLCs, HMI/SCADA systems, process controls, and industrial networking.
  • Experience supporting utility systems such as steam, compressed air, HVAC, dust collection, water systems, and electrical distribution.
  • Experience supporting quality management systems, environmental permitting, and regulatory compliance programs.
  • Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma Green Belt/Black Belt, or equivalent continuous improvement certification.
  • Experience with Reliability‑Centered Maintenance (RCM), FMEA, vibration analysis, thermography, or other predictive maintenance methodologies.
  • Experience leading or mentoring technical, engineering, or maintenance teams.
  • Ability to travel up to 10% as needed. Must possess or be able to obtain a valid driver's license and passport.

The applicable salary range for every role in the U.S. is based on your work location and is aligned to the cost of labor in your area.
