Job summary

The Clorox Company is seeking an experienced Plant EIC Engineer for the Amherst site to serve as the technical authority for electrical power systems, automation, and OT networks. You will partner with maintenance, operations, IT, and corporate engineering to support production goals and asset health.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Controls, Automation Engineering or related.
  • 5+ years of manufacturing or industrial experience.
  • Hands-on experience with PLCs, HMIs, and industrial automation systems (Allen-Bradley/Rockwell).
  • Strong troubleshooting and root cause analysis skills.
  • Experience leading automation or electrical capital projects from planning through commissioning.
  • Knowledge of OSHA, LOTO, arc-flash, and electrical safety standards.
  • Strong collaboration and communication with cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

  • Lead design, maintenance, troubleshooting, and optimization of plant electrical distribution systems (low and medium voltage).
  • Develop and maintain single-line diagrams, arc-flash studies, load calculations, and protective device coordination.
  • Ensure compliance with NEC, NFPA 70E, OSHA, and corporate electrical safety standards.
  • Oversee electrical contractors, ensuring safe work practices and adherence to specifications.
  • Manage electrical capital projects, including scope development, vendor selection, installation, and commissioning.
  • Serve as the subject‑matter expert for PLCs, HMIs, SCADA, VFDs, instrumentation, and industrial control systems.
  • Develop and maintain control logic, HMI screens, and automation standards.
  • Troubleshoot process control issues to support uptime and product quality.
  • Lead upgrades, migrations, and lifecycle planning for automation hardware and software.
  • Implement and maintain change‑management procedures for control system modifications.
  • Own the architecture, reliability, and cybersecurity posture of the plant’s OT network.
  • Collaborate with IT to maintain segmentation, firewalls, VLANs, and secure remote access.
  • Monitor network performance, manage switches and industrial networking hardware, and ensure proper configuration and documentation.
  • Support deployment of IIoT devices, data historians, and edge computing solutions.
  • Ensure compliance with ISA/IEC 62443, NIST policies.
  • Analyze downtime data to identify root causes and implement corrective actions.
  • Drive standardization of electrical and control components across the facility following the EIC platform 5 year plan standard.
  • Lead predictive and preventive maintenance strategies for electrical and automation assets.
  • Deliver energy‑efficiency initiatives and power‑quality improvements.
  • Provide technical guidance to maintenance technicians and operations teams.
  • Train plant personnel on electrical safety, lockout/tagout, and control system basics.
  • Partner with engineering, EHS, and IT to ensure alignment on standards and project execution.
  • Deliver :15 projects totaling :$3.5M of capital and SWP expenditure each year.

Your role at Clorox:

The Plant EIC Engineer serves as the site’s technical authority for all electrical power systems, industrial controls, automation platforms, and Operational Technology (OT) networks. This role ensures safe, reliable, and compliant operation of plant electrical infrastructure while driving continuous improvement in automation, system integration, and network resilience. The engineer partners closely with maintenance, operations, IT, and corporate engineering teams to support production goals and long term asset health.

This engineer will utilize the Clorox Engineering Practices, Standards, Specifications, Early Management Tools and overall OpEx principles to design, modify capability, and improve plant system performance across the facility. This position maintains close connection and involvement with Plant Operations, Plant Maintenance, Glad R&D, Corporate HSE&S Team, Clorox Central Engineering Team, Clorox Capital Project Management Team, Clorox EIC Platform Team, Clorox IT and OT Teams.

In this role, you will:
Electrical Systems Ownership
  • Lead the design, maintenance, troubleshooting, and optimization of plant electrical distribution systems (low and medium voltage).

Controls & Automation

Operational Technology (OT) Network Management
  • Own the architecture, reliability, and cybersecurity posture of the plant’s OT network.

  • Monitor network performance, manage switches and industrial networking hardware, and ensure proper configuration and documentation.
  • Support deployment of IIoT devices, data historians, and edge computing solutions.
  • Ensure compliance with corporate cybersecurity policies and industry best practices (ISA/IEC 62443, NIST).
Reliability & Continuous Improvement
  • Analyze downtime data to identify root causes and implement long‑term corrective actions.
  • Drive standardization of electrical and control components across the facility following the EIC platform 5 year plan standard
  • Lead predictive and preventive maintenance strategies for electrical and automation assets.
  • Deliver annual energy‑efficiency initiatives and power‑quality improvements.
Cross‑Functional Collaboration
  • Provide technical guidance to maintenance technicians and operations teams.
  • Train plant personnel on electrical safety, lockout/tagout, and control system basics.
  • Partner with engineering, EHS, and IT to ensure alignment on standards and project execution.
Deliver Capital and SWP Plan
  • Responsible for delivering :15 projects totaling :$3.5M of capital and SWP expenditure each year to maintain the asset base of the Amherst site.
What we look for:
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Controls, Automation Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • 5+ years of manufacturing or industrial experience.
  • Hands-on experience with PLCs, HMIs, and industrial automation systems, preferably Allen-Bradley/Rockwell.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills in electrical, controls, and automation systems, including root cause analysis and corrective actions.
  • Experience leading automation or electrical capital projects from planning through commissioning.
  • Knowledge of OSHA regulations, lockout/tagout (LOTO), arc-flash, and electrical safety standards.
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills with cross-functional teams.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Allen-Bradley/Rockwell PLC programming and troubleshooting.
  • Experience with Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES).
  • Knowledge of predictive maintenance, energy management, and power quality.

The applicable salary range for every role in the U.S. is based on your work location and is aligned to one of three zones according to the cost of labor in your area.

–Zone A: $90,900 - $170,100

–Zone B: $83,400 - $155,900

–Zone C: $75,800 - $141,700
