Job description

About the Role

We are looking for a hands‑on Manufacturing & Production Technician to join our team. This is a versatile role at the center of our production operations — you will operate SMT assembly equipment, build and solder electronic assemblies, assemble and test complete systems, and see products through final packaging, shipping, and invoicing. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, comfortable wearing multiple hats, and takes pride in quality workmanship.

Key Responsibilities
SMT Equipment Operation
  • Set up, program, and operate pick-and-place machine, including feeder loading, component reel changeovers, and placement program adjustments from centroid/BOM data
  • Apply solder paste (stencil printing) and verify paste deposition quality prior to placement
  • Set up and operate reflow oven, including selecting and verifying reflow temperature profiles appropriate to board and component requirements
  • Perform first-article and post-reflow inspection of assembled boards
  • Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of SMT equipment (nozzles, feeders, stencils, oven)
PCB Assembly & Soldering
  • Perform hand soldering, rework, and repair of printed circuit board assemblies (through-hole and surface-mount components) to IPC standards
  • Inspect solder joints and assemblies for workmanship defects
  • Maintain ESD-safe work practices and a clean, organized workstation
Manufacturing & System Builds
  • Assemble, integrate, and configure complete systems from sub-assemblies per work instructions, BOMs, and assembly drawings
  • Perform functional testing and basic troubleshooting of assembled units
  • Document build records, test results, and serial number tracking
  • Flag and report discrepancies in parts, documentation, or process
Shipping & Receiving
  • Package finished goods for safe transit, including ESD-sensitive and fragile items
  • Prepare shipping documentation, labels, and carrier bookings (UPS/FedEx/freight)
  • Receive incoming materials, verify against purchase orders, and stock inventory
  • Maintain accurate inventory records
Invoicing & Order Support
  • Generate customer invoices and packing slips for shipped orders
  • Verify order details, quantities, and pricing against sales orders
  • Coordinate with accounting and sales on billing questions and order status
Required Qualifications
  • Soldering certification: IPC J-STD-001 (or ability to obtain certification within 90 days); IPC-A-610 familiarity a plus
  • 2+ years of experience in electronics manufacturing, assembly, or a related production environment
  • Experience operating SMT assembly equipment (pick-and-place and reflow oven), or demonstrated ability to learn machine setup and operation quickly
  • Ability to read and work from BOMs, assembly drawings, and written work instructions
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
  • Basic computer proficiency (email, spreadsheets, inventory/ERP or shipping software)
  • Ability to lift up to 40 lbs and stand for extended periods
Preferred Qualifications
  • Hands‑on experience programming pick‑and‑place machines and developing reflow profiles
  • Experience with surface‑mount rework under magnification/microscope
  • Familiarity with ISO 9001 quality management practices
  • Experience with shipping software and freight carriers
  • Experience generating invoices
  • Experience with cable/harness assembly per IPC/WHMA‑A‑620
