Position Summary
The Scheduler/Capacity Planner develops the Schedule, balancing production capacity, resources, and inventory for one or more Business Units. You will act as a liaison between Production, Engineering, Supply Chain, Business Development, and Program Management to develop the Master Schedule and Capacity Planning.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
Responsibilities:
- Develops and maintains the Schedule, balancing production capacity, resources, and inventory for one or more Business Units.
- Acts as a liaison between Production, Engineering, Supply Chain, Business Development, and Program Management to develop the Schedule and Capacity Plans.
- Organized and detail-oriented; conscientious in work execution.
- Creates, publishes, and maintains the Production Schedule, integrating sales orders, raw materials, supplies, equipment, and staffing to meet delivery dates.
- Participates in forecasting meetings with sales, marketing, and other departments; leads planning meetings with sales, production, shipping, purchasing, and customer service teams.
- Engages in forecasting/planning meetings with Business Development, Finance, and other relevant departments.
- Documents key information for analysis, including downtime, peak production, inventory, and scheduling accuracy.
- Performs additional related duties as required.
- Works to eliminate barriers to improve overall scheduling performance and reduce costs.
- Maintains a professional, safe, and clean environment by punctuality, following policies, wearing safety gear, and adhering to safety practices.
- Builds effective relationships and collaborates with managers, directors, and staff to achieve shared goals.
- Follows GSM Code of Ethics and Business Conduct and complies with all applicable laws and regulations.
Requirements
Qualifications, Skills, and Abilities:
- Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent work experience.
- APICS Certification or willingness to obtain within the first year.
- 5-10 years of experience in Production Scheduling and/or Sales Inventory and Operations Planning.
- Understanding of complex manufacturing processes.
- Familiarity with ERP systems (experience with ECI - M1 is a plus).
- Advanced MS Excel skills for statistical analysis, chart creation, calculations, lookups, and pivot tables.
- Ability to perform well in a high-volume, fast-paced environment.
- Knowledge of accounting, production procedures, material and capacity planning, and BOM procedures.
- Comfortable presenting to senior leadership.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, including technical reporting and presentations.
- Self-motivated learner with minimal guidance required.
- Skills in root cause analysis and corrective action implementation.
- Team-oriented with leadership capabilities in cross-functional teams.
- Experience with sensitive information related to government contracts is preferred but not required.
