Job summary

  • Troubleshoot lab instruments and perform maintenance.
  • Develop and revise QC SOPs and work instructions.

  • Support internal/external testing for characterization and validation projects.

Job description

We are looking for a Quality Control (QC) Testing associate who is experienced, energetic, flexible, organized, and high performing to join our Gore Fabrics Quality Testing Lab team on 2nd shift. This role focuses on performing routine testing for product release and process monitoring in a high-volume QC lab while also supporting our engineering teams. As a QC Lab Associate, you will play a key role in upholding high quality standards essential to our operations. This role offers excellent opportunities for professional development in a dynamic, collaborative, and supportive work environment. Standard hours are 3:00 PM - 11:30 PM, Monday through Friday.

This role will be located at our facility in Elkton, Maryland .

Pay and Benefits:

  • $25 - $33 per hour
  • This role is eligible for an additional $2/hour shift differential pay for evening, night, and weekend shifts.

Responsibilities
  • Adhere to all safety and environmental practices, including proper chemical waste management and compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Organize and perform routine testing of QC samples and non-production (R&D support) samples using a wide variety of instrumentation such as tensile, thermal analysis, MVTR, water entry pressure, porometry, airflow, microscopy, spectroscopy, and wet chemistry equipment.
  • Accurately record and maintain test data in designated platforms such as MES, Excel, and TEAMS.
  • Perform instrument calibrations and partner with quality associates and engineers to carry out corrective actions relevant to test equipment.
  • Troubleshoot problems and perform periodic maintenance on QC lab instrumentation.
  • Develop (write new protocols) and maintain (revise existing) SOPs and work instructions relevant to QC processes or instrumentation.
  • Train other lab associates on these procedures.
  • Provide testing support for internal and external customer related to characterization and validation projects.
  • Collaborate with engineers to address issues, identify trends, and share observations that support continuous improvement.
Required Qualifications
  • Associate degree in science or engineering, OR a minimum of 2 years of experience in a quality control testing environment.
  • Strong computer proficiency in MS Office, Outlook, and Teams, with a basic knowledge of MES and the ability to quickly learn and adapt to advanced systems.
  • Basic knowledge of statistical analysis.
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Proven ability to follow detailed written procedures with accuracy and consistency.
  • Strong attention to detail, ensuring precision in testing and documentation.
  • Effective problem-solving and analytical skills to identify and resolve issues.
  • Capability to drive improvements for existing test methods and procedures through standardized processes.
  • Demonstrated success working independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Clear and effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to learn and apply a variety of new tests and laboratory instrumentation.
  • Ability to travel up to 5%.
Desired Qualifications
  • Associate degree in a science or engineering discipline.
  • Hands-on experience with a broad range of instrumentation and techniques, including tensile testing, thermal analysis, MVTR, water entry pressure, porometry, airflow, spectroscopy, and wet chemistry.
  • Prior experience working within an established quality systems such as Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES).
  • Prior experience work with statistical tools such as JMP and/or Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS).
