Job summary

Ultimate Staffing seeks a Manufacturing Process Engineer (PCBA) for a Corona, CA electronics manufacturer. Lead development, implementation, and optimization of PCBA and box-build processes to support aerospace, defense, automotive, industrial, medical, and lighting programs.

Qualifications

  • 7+ years of EMS, PCBA, or electronics manufacturing experience.
  • Hands-on experience with SMT processes, AOI, SPI, reflow profiling, and X-ray inspection.
  • Experience with Flying Probe, ICT, or functional testing.
  • Experience supporting box-build and subsystem integration.
  • Knowledge of PFMEA, SPC, DOE, root cause analysis, and process validation.
  • Strong problem-solving, communication, and project leadership skills.

Responsibilities

  • Lead SMT process development including solder paste printing, SPI, AOI, and reflow profiling.
  • Improve yields and reduce scrap while meeting schedules.
  • Develop PFMEA, Control Plans, DOE, SPC, and process capability metrics.
  • Support NPI builds and process validation.
  • Mentor technicians and operators on manufacturing best practices.

Manufacturing Process Engineer (PCBA)

A growing electronics manufacturer is seeking an experienced Manufacturing Process Engineer (PCBA) to lead the development, implementation, and optimization of high-reliability PCB assembly and box-build manufacturing processes. This role supports products for Aerospace, Defense, Automotive, Industrial, Medical Device, and Advanced Lighting industries.

The ideal candidate will drive process improvements, improve production yields, establish manufacturing controls, and support new product introductions in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities
PCB Assembly & SMT Manufacturing
  • Lead SMT process development including solder paste printing, SPI, AOI, reflow profiling, X-ray inspection, and electrical testing.
  • Optimize processes for thermal PCBs, heavy copper, and high-current applications.
  • Implement controls for Flying Probe, ICT, and functional testing.
  • Improve yields, reduce scrap, and optimize cycle times.
  • Develop and maintain PFMEA, Control Plans, DOE, SPC, and process capability metrics.
Box Build & Assembly
  • Design and implement scalable box-build and subsystem assembly processes.
  • Develop procedures for harnesses, connectors, enclosures, and electromechanical assemblies.
  • Establish conformal coating, potting, sealing, and environmental protection processes.
  • Define functional testing procedures and maintain product traceability.
Quality & Compliance
  • Ensure compliance with IPC Class 2 and Class 3 standards.
  • Support ISO 9001 quality systems and readiness for AS9100, IATF 16949, and ISO 13485 requirements.
  • Partner with Quality teams on audits, corrective actions, process validation, and documentation control.
NPI & Continuous Improvement
  • Lead NPI builds and process validation activities.
  • Evaluate and implement new equipment, tooling, and automation solutions.
  • Support DFM initiatives, stencil design, thermal profiling, and assembly fixturing.
  • Train and mentor technicians and operators on manufacturing best practices.
Qualifications
Required
  • 7+ years of EMS, PCBA, or electronics manufacturing experience.
  • Hands-on experience with SMT processes, AOI, SPI, reflow profiling, and X-ray inspection.
  • Experience with Flying Probe, ICT, or functional testing.
  • Experience supporting box-build and subsystem integration.
  • Knowledge of PFMEA, SPC, DOE, root cause analysis, and process validation.
  • Strong problem-solving, communication, and project leadership skills.
Preferred
  • Experience in Aerospace, Defense, Automotive, Industrial, or Medical Device manufacturing.
  • Familiarity with AS9100, IATF 16949, and ISO 13485 standards.

Work Location: On-site, Corona, CA
Salary: $100,000 - $130,000 per year, depending on experience.
