Job summary

Fabrinet West in Santa Clara/California seeks a Process Engineer to lead continuous improvement in PCBA manufacturing. You will design and optimize production flow, create detailed process instructions, and drive yield and quality improvements while reducing cycle time.

You will coordinate with engineering builds and support lean manufacturing implementations. The role requires 1–5 years hands-on PCBA process engineering experience with SMT, PTH, and assembly knowledge; proficiency in SPC/DOE

Qualifications

  • 1-5 years of hands-on process engineering experience for the PCBA assembly environment.
  • Experience in SMT, PTH, Mechanical assembly and System build; experience in writing work/process instructions.
  • Knowledgeable in PCB laminates and processing, lead-free soldering, cleaning, conformal coating and robotic dispensing is a plus.
  • Experience in solder printer, SPI, AOI, AXI, wave soldering and BGA rework machines preferred.
  • Knowledgeable with soldering materials, IPC/J-STD related processes, and process debugging.
  • Familiar with SPC, GRR, DOE for problem solving and process capability evaluation.
  • Experience in IQ, PQ, OQ and PPAP requirements is a plus.
  • Experience with supplier root-cause analysis is a plus.
  • Team player with hands-on attitude; able to work with little supervision.
  • Excellent math, verbal, computer, troubleshooting and analytical skills in electronics manufacturing.

Responsibilities

  • Design and optimize manufacturing flow; drive and prepare manufacturing instructions.
  • Improve yield and quality by process efficiency and reducing scrap and cycle time.
  • Coordinate with customers and drive action to meet expectations.
  • Support quick turnaround on samples and coordinate supply chain activities.
  • Prepare and review DFX reports with customer representatives and yield analyses.
  • Transfer new products, processes, tooling, equipment and technology between sites.
  • Maintain development schedule and track activities leading to process introduction.
  • Work independently on problems of moderate scope; seek guidance when needed.

Job description

PURPOSE:

Responsible for continuous improvement activities under instructions to support manufacturing process, technique, and methodology. As improvement in manufacturing systems by using statistical analysis and other analytical tools to maximize production efficiency. Support the organizational goals in achieving total customer satisfaction. Support the Lean Manufacturing Implementations.

PRINCIPLE ACCOUNTABILITIES / DUTIES:
  1. Creates program to support the production report, Provides process instruction for manufacturing.
  2. Design and optimize manufacturing flow - responsible for driving / prepare manufacturing instructions (process, assembly, rework)
  3. Improve yield and quality by process efficiency, less scrap and cycle time. Set Head Count Requirements - Responsible for Process quality and drive continuous process improvements to achieve Quality by Process & Not by Inspection
  4. Knows your customer's expectations and drive action to meet them
  5. Makes decisions to support quick turn around on sample
  6. Works closely with the site to coordinate supply chain procurement activities in support of engineering builds.
  7. Prepare / Publishes and reviews DFX reports with key customer representatives, including all issues found and resolved during developments, as well as yield reports and analysis.
  8. Transfers new products, process, tooling, equipment and technology to/from other sites.
  9. Maintain Process Development schedule - tracking all the activities leading to product Processes introduction.
  10. Able to Works independently on a variety of problems of moderate scope. Exercises judgment within established procedures and practices to determine appropriate action.
  11. Regularly interacts with peers in own area and in related functions, as well as with immediate management.
  12. Receives objectives and sets goals to achieve them.
PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

1-5 years of hands‑on process engineering experience for the PCBA assembly environment.

PREFERRED Qualifications:
  1. Experienced & have in-depth knowledge in SMT, PTH, Mechanical assembly / System build. Experienced in writing the work / Process instructions
  2. Knowledgeable in various PCB laminates and processing, lead free soldering, Cleaning processes, Conformal coating & Robotic dispensing is a Plus
  3. Experience in solder printer, SPI, AOI, AXI, wave soldering and BGA rework machines preferred
  4. Knowledgeable with soldering materials, soldering process, temperature profiling and process debug for soldering issues on PCBA & with IPC and J-STD which related with PCBA, soldering and test
  5. Familiar with statistical methods (SPC, GRR, DOE) for problem solving and process capability evaluation
  6. Experience in Equipment qualification and Process Validation (IQ, PQ,OQ).
  7. Experience in PPAP requirements is a Plus
  8. Experience in working with component suppliers for root cause analysis is a Plus
  9. Team player, hands‑on attitude self‑motivated ability to work with little supervision
  10. Generally, executes responsibilities independently, receiving some guidance on new specific work projects
  11. Excellent math, verbal, computer, troubleshooting, problem solving analytical skills in Electronics MFG environment is a plus
  12. Familiar with Lean Manufacturing implementation and Green/Black Belt is a plus
Education or Training:

BS/MS degree for Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering or Manufacturing Engineering.

Compensation:

$120,000-$140,000 per year
