Job summary

True North Consultants, Inc. in Decorah, IA is seeking a Manufacturing/Process Engineer to develop, maintain, and improve production processes, focusing on stability, continuous improvement, and capital project support.

You will partner with Operations, Quality, Maintenance, and Supply Chain to ensure safe, efficient, and repeatable manufacturing, applying Lean and Six Sigma methods and leading capital projects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Manufacturing, Industrial, Mechanical or related).
• 4–7 years of hands-on manufacturing or process engineering in production.
• Experience with lean manufacturing and capital projects.
• Strong ability to analyze, improve, and sustain processes.
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings and manufacturing data.
• Willingness to travel up to 15% to support the business.

Responsibilities

• Monitor process performance and respond to issues in daily operations.
• Develop, document, and maintain work instructions, flows, routings, and standard work.
• Analyze production data to identify improvement opportunities.
• Implement changes to improve safety, quality, efficiency, and throughput.
• Support new product/process introductions with setup and documentation.
• Lead Kaizen events and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
• Lead root cause analysis and implement corrective actions.
• Identify and reduce waste, scrap, and labor/material costs.
• Oversee capital projects, including equipment selection, installation, and startup.
• Prepare ROI analyses and technical specs for capital requests.
• Coordinate with vendors, Maintenance, and Operations for installation and commissioning.
• Support process validation, capability studies, and acceptance testing.
• Maintain and update documentation reflecting capital project changes.
• Ensure alignment with internal quality systems and customer requirements.
• Assist with non-conformance investigations and corrective actions.
