Job summary

Materion is seeking a Mechanical/ Manufacturing Engineer to drive process improvements in a capital equipment–intensive environment, partnering with supervisors and operators to improve safety, quality and efficiency on the factory floor.

You will design, install, and commission new production equipment, evaluate inputs from observations, and guide cost-effective supplier selection and project execution. A 5–10 year metals background and SolidWorks/AutoCAD familiarity are preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering or equivalent.
• 5–10 years of metals manufacturing experience in a task-driven environment.
• Knowledge of process controls (HMI, operator interface) to optimize equipment efficiencies.
• Skilled in preparing cost estimates, schedules and technical reports.
• Ability to complete projects on time and within budget with safety compliance.
• Lean Manufacturing experience preferred; proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Project, PowerPoint.
• Familiarity with SolidWorks and AutoCAD.

Responsibilities

• Team with manufacturing supervisors and operators to address problems and identify opportunities for process improvement.
• Troubleshoot problems with production equipment on the factory floor and implement designs.
• Engineer, design, install, and commission new production equipment and train operators.
• Evaluate input from observations and cross-disciplinary teams to solve complex machinery issues.
• Prioritize and complete diverse engineering activities for optimal machinery design and performance.
• Evaluate and select cost-effective suppliers for materials and subcontracting.
• Supervise consultants to ensure project completion.
