Job summary

First Solar, Inc. is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer specializing in finishing processes to tackle day-to-day production, equipment, and process challenges on the line. You will install and qualify new equipment, maintain gauges, and run designed experiments to drive throughput and yield improvements.

The role requires strong problem-solving, data analysis, and documentation skills, with flexibility for domestic and international travel as needed.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in engineering or technical discipline with 3+ years First Solar technical experience or 6+ years technical work in manufacturing.
• Bachelor’s/Master’s/PhD in engineering or related field with no experience required; technical work with degree is preferred.
• Certifications or experience may substitute for degree; must demonstrate mentorship and data analysis skills.
• Experience options include Maintenance Technician III levels or Journeyman certification with relevant industry experience.
• Strong data analysis, DOE, SPC, DMAIC and problem-solving capabilities are required.

Responsibilities

• Solve day-to-day production, equipment, and process problems.
• Install and qualify new equipment.
• Maintain gauges and equipment.
• Design and execute planned process experiments; analyze data and report results.
• Collect data on daily equipment and product performance.
• Collaborate with internal and supplier teams to complete projects.
• Train engineering technicians and production staff.
• Identify yield and product performance improvements.
• Develop and maintain process documentation and control plans.
• Travel domestically and internationally as required.
