Job summary

Dana Incorporated is seeking a Manufacturing/Process Engineer to support prototyping, stamping, and tool development. You will collaborate with Design, Tooling, and Material Suppliers to troubleshoot production issues and improve quality, cost, and delivery.

The role emphasizes hands-on problem solving, continuous improvement, and close interaction with internal and external tooling shops. Travel to suppliers/customers may be required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Associate’s Degree in Engineering or 5 years of related experience.
• Experience in metal stamping and/or manufacturing preferred.
• Excellent interpersonal and written/verbal communication.
• Self-directed and motivated; willing to accept responsibility.
• Willing to work extended hours and travel to customers/suppliers.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate communications with design, sales, and production to resolve processing issues.
• Stamping and assembly of prototypes.
• Collaborate with Tooling, Product Design, and Material Suppliers on prototype tools and document findings.
• Troubleshoot metal stamping to resolve processing problems.
• Support quality, cost reduction, and delivery initiatives.
• Prepare reports on material processing, tooling, and engineering tests.
• Lead or support problem solving (8D, 7-step, Fishbone, 5 Whys).
• Support continuous improvement programs and employee involvement teams.
• Develop equipment, fixtures, and gauges with internal and external tool shops.
• Participate in VA/VE cost savings initiatives.

Job Duties And Responsibilities

• Responsible for all communications and contacts with appropriate disciplines concerning all processing issues. (Product Design, Sales, Tool Shop, Production, Program Managers/Coordinators.)
• Responsible for stamping and assembly of all prototypes.
• Work closely with Tooling, Product Design, and Material Suppliers on any and all problems on prototype production tools and document these.
• Capable of troubleshooting metal stamping to resolve processing problems.
• Assist the facility in meeting Initiatives of Quality, Cost Reduction, and Delivery.
• Prepare reports on material processing, tooling problems, assembly problems, engineering tests, etc.
• Lead and/or support problem solving activities (8D, 7step, Error Proofing, Fishbone, 5 why).
• Lead and/or support continuous improvement programs and employee involvement work teams.
• Work with tool shops (internal and external) to develop equipment, fixtures, and gages, needed for development and production systems.
• Participate in cost savings initiatives such as VA/VE

Education And Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Associate’s Degree in Engineering or 5 yrs. experience in related field
• Experience in metal stamping and/or manufacturing preferred
• Must have excellent interpersonal skills to work with people in a professional manner
• Must be self directed and a motivated individual who is willing to accept responsibility
• Must be flexible, willing, and able to work excess hours when needed.
• Proficiency developing PFMEAs, operator instructions, Control Plans, and Process Flow Charts
• Proficiency with MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project)
• Ability to travel as required to customers and suppliers
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
