Job summary

Dana Corp., a global leader in engineered driveline and thermal-management technologies, seeks a Manufacturing Engineer to support maintenance, improve processes, and implement efficient production methods. You will design tooling, review specs, and lead PM initiatives across production lines.

The role requires a Bachelor’s degree in engineering with hands-on experience in machining, automation, and lean manufacturing.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or a technical field and 3 years related experience.
  • Experience with machining and production equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Assist maintenance to ensure equipment is properly maintained and safe.
  • Monitor and improve manufacturing process performance and efficiency.
  • Manage capital plans and project expenses as required.
  • Design, develop, test, and source tools and equipment for manufacturing methods.
  • Develop documentation of work instructions and PFMEA with Quality and Production teams.
  • Review specs, BOMs, and Flex Fields for accuracy and completeness.
  • Lead tool PM initiatives from analysis to disposition and cost tracking.
  • Ensure EHS compliance related to job responsibilities.
  • Interface with customers and implement corrective actions for quality issues.
  • Support lean manufacturing and light-DOX initiatives.
  • Assist in troubleshooting and improving preventive/predictive maintenance.

Job description

Dana is a global leader in the supply of highly engineered driveline, sealing, and thermal-management technologies that improve the efficiency and performance of vehicles with both conventional and alternative-energy powertrains. Serving two primary markets - passenger vehicle and commercial truck - Dana provides the world’s original-equipment manufacturers and the aftermarket with local product and service support through a network of nearly 100 engineering, manufacturing, and distribution facilities.

Job Duties and Responsibilities
  • Assist maintenance to ensure equipment is properly maintained, guarded, and operating in a safe manner. Manage the successful transition of new products & technology into the production areas.
  • Monitor existing manufacturing processes to continuously improve process, efficiency, throughput, quality, setup, and cost through engagement and action.
  • Manage capital plans and expense projects as required.
  • Design, develop, test, and/or source and implement various tools, cutters, machinery, & equipment for recommended manufacturing methods.
  • Perform research, design, and analyses to develop and improve capacity, layouts, production flow, workforce utilization, and material handling methods.
  • Develop and implement documentation of manufacturing work instructions, process flow diagrams, and PFMEA alongside a Quality Engineering and Production counterpart.
  • Review new product specifications, review BOMs and Flex Fields for correctness and completeness.
  • Lead and maintain tool PM initiative from analysis to disposition including recommendations to repair or replace, requesting purchase requisition, logging to expense report for approval, and tracking.
  • EHS compliance as it relates to job responsibility.
  • Interface with customers and implement corrective actions to resolve quality concerns and process-related issues.
  • Participate and support Dana DOS, lean manufacturing, and Red-X initiatives.
  • Assist maintenance in troubleshooting equipment, further developing preventative and predictive maintenance systems, and providing direction for project and improvement work, as required.
  • Other projects and developments including evening and/or weekend support as needed.
Education and Qualifications
  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or a technical field discipline and 3 years related experience.
  • Experience with machining and production equipment.
Skills
  • Project management skills and experience.
  • Self-starter with motivation to complete projects per specified timelines, as well as ability to work in a team-oriented environment.
  • Kaizen & Lean manufacturing experience.
  • Proficient in Auto CAD, Autodesk Inventor, and Microsoft Office.
  • Experience with AviX, Visio, and MS Project will be helpful.
  • Ability to work with vendors, customers, & employees at all levels of the organization.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • PLC experience is a plus - Allen Bradley, Siemens, Fanuc, Okuma (OSP), and Mori-Seiki (MAPS).
  • IATF 16949, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001 preferred.
