VadaTech is a world leader in the design and manufacturing of embedded computing solutions. Due to continued growth, we are seeking candidates for the position of Manufacturing Process Engineer. This position is responsible for determining operations to produce products and developing processes to ensure quality, cost, and efficiency requirements are met. The process engineer troubleshoots problems with production and takes corrective action. They also research equipment purchase or upgrades to existing equipment.
Responsibilities include:
- Optimizing process yield and productivity through continuous improvement programs.
- Developing, maintaining, and validating thermal profiles for SMT ovens for new and existing board-level products.
- Generating and updating work instructions for production processes.
- Participating in New Product Development to evaluate concepts, design, prototype, and test.
- Collaborating with Electrical and Mechanical Engineering teams for design reviews related to manufacturability and assembly, including stencil design approval.
- Identifying and leading the implementation of new electronic assembly capabilities.
- Supporting manufacturing staff with programs for selective solder, AOI, RTV dispensers, and laser cutters.
- Creating, updating, and maintaining manufacturing documents for pre-production builds, design verification, validation, and process validation.
- Driving engineering prototypes and first article jobs for potential improvements.
- Collaborating with engineering to resolve customer quality issues related to manufacturing processes.
- Supervising operator training.
Preferred qualifications and education:
- BS degree or equivalent in a technical field (e.g., EE, ME, Materials Science) with 5+ years in electronics manufacturing, especially in high mix, low volume environments.
- Strong knowledge of SMT, wave soldering, and lead-free processes (ROHS).
- Knowledge of electro-mechanical assembly processes and quality systems.
- Experience with process automation, IPC standards, ISO standards, audits, and certifications.
- Excellent troubleshooting, organizational, and project management skills.
- Fluent in English, able to follow detailed instructions, and work independently and collaboratively.
Environment:
- Indoors in engineering labs and manufacturing floors.
Physical demands:
- Sitting and standing for long periods, operating computers, handling objects up to 25 lbs.
