Manufacturing Plastic Procurement Specialist

Position Overview

We are excited to launch a newly created Procurement Specialist role to strengthen our growing operations. In this pivotal position, you will help ensure the uninterrupted supply of virgin and recycled plastic resins and related raw materials, striking a balance between cost, quality, and delivery performance. You’ll collaborate closely with suppliers, the materials team, and cross-functional partners to keep our manufacturing lines running smoothly and efficiently.

What You’ll Do

  • Place & Manage Orders
  • Issue timely purchase orders for raw materials and supplies
  • Plan, create, and process requisitions and purchase orders based on plant needs
  • Track orders and ensure on-time deliveries
  • Analyze invoices and billing details to ensure accuracy of raw materials delivered
  • Maintain and update purchase order records in ERP system
  • Close incomplete PO’s as needed
  • Identify and build strong relationships with key suppliers
  • Negotiate pricing, terms, quality expectations, and delivery deadlines
  • Communicate regularly with suppliers, schedule meetings, and coordinate projects as needed to address and resolve supply-related issues
  • Measure and track supplier performance based on cost, quality, deliverables, and service levels
  • Quality & Process Coordination
  • Collaborate with Quality Assurance for raw material inspections upon delivery
  • Initiate corrective actions with vendors as necessary
  • Participate in cycle counts and reconcile data discrepancies
  • Work closely with internal teams to address any supply chain disruptions or material quality issues
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Work alongside finance, sales, operations, and logistics to resolve procurement issues and concerns
  • Analyze market trends and supplier performance data to support procurement decisions and continuous improvement
  • Assist with other projects or tasks as needed

What You’ll Bring

  • Experience:
    • 3+ years in procurement or supply chain, preferably in a manufacturing or plastics environment
    • Strong negotiation, analytical, and critical thinking abilities
    • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
    • Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint)
    • Flexible, detail-oriented, and eager to grow in a newly created role
    • Professional work ethics: We ask that cell phone use be limited to breaks
  • Education:
    • Bachelor’s degree in business, supply chain, engineering, or a related field preferred
