Job summary

General Mills is seeking an entry-level Manufacturing Process and Packaging Engineer (Systems Engineer) to gain hands-on experience on the shop floor in Cedar Rapids. You will troubleshoot daily operations, learn 4M principles, and support safety and foundational systems while building technical skills in packaging and processing.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering or related field required or extensive relevant work experience.
• 1+ years of related experience preferred.
• Knowledge of manufacturing systems and unit operations.
• Experience with data and performance metrics analysis.
• Food/consumer products or process industry experience is preferred.
• Statistical analysis and analytical methods helpful.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and teamwork skills.
• Knowledge of SAP/Maximo or similar systems is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Lead safety and safety culture initiatives on the floor.
• Build and improve foundational systems (CIL, CL, TOO).
• Troubleshoot on-the-floor and develop operator capability.
• Support daily operations and problem-solving to reduce losses.
• Work with cross-functional teams to drive continuous improvement.
• Learn and apply 4M framework (machine, materials, methods, people).
