Job summary

AMETEK, Inc., via Zygo in Middlefield CT, seeks a Manufacturing Engineering Technician to collaborate with manufacturing engineering to develop new products and support sustaining activities, testing optical elements to verify specifications and performance.

The role serves as a liaison between engineering and production, aiding NPI, process improvements, documentation, and quality control, with training on Zygo test systems. A HS diploma and production/test lab experience are required.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or trade school; Associate degree preferred.
• Experience in a fast-paced production environment.
• Experience in a test lab with software tools, handling optical parts and assemblies.
• Ability to read blueprints, procedures, and test requirements.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills across functions.
• Proactive problem-solver with initiative, resilience and curiosity.

Responsibilities

• Support New Product Introduction and sustaining activities for mature products.
• Identify improvements to procedures or tools to boost productivity and provide feedback to engineers.
• Use software tools and procedures to assemble and test optical products.
• Document assembly and test procedures, and report failures to drive process improvements.
• Ensure quality control to reduce waste by following assembly and test requirements.
• Collaborate with Manufacturing Engineers to implement updates/changes.
• Participate in Continuous Improvement projects and resolve roadblocks with engineering.
