Job summary

AMETEK, Inc. in Middlefield, CT is seeking an Optical Assembly Technician to join the Laser Tubes manufacturing team. You will perform precise optomechanical and electro-optical assembly and test of laser tubes and components, following detailed procedures and strict quality standards.

The role requires 3-5 years of hands-on production experience, strong math, and the ability to read BOMs and drawings. Cleanroom procedures, traceability, and safety are essential in this position.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 3-5 years of hands-on production manufacturing/operations experience.
• Strong mathematical aptitude for precision measurements.
• Ability to read and interpret BOMs, schematics, drawings, and build procedures.
• Excellent manual dexterity for handling delicate optical components.
• Collaborative team player with strong problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and adapt to shifting priorities.
• Rigorous, organized, and detail-oriented with good data entry skills.
• Capable of lifting up to 20 lbs and standing for extended periods.
• Commitment to safety and quality in a manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

• Perform accurate optomechanical and electromechanical assembly and test of laser tubes and components.
• Document work with precision, identify irregularities, and ensure quality and performance requirements.
• Follow detailed manufacturing procedures and quality standards with consistency.
• Collaborate with engineering and peers to provide feedback on build progress and test results.
• Maintain cleanroom protocols and contamination control during assembly.
• Read optical drawings and BOMs; maintain traceability of components.
• Support root cause analysis and corrective actions for production issues.
• Maintain required training certifications and adhere to safety standards.
