Job summary

nVent in Solon, OH is seeking skilled manufacturing operators to set up and operate heavy-duty power equipment used to bend, form, and shape various metal products. You will read blueprints, follow routes, inspect materials, and ensure accuracy with measuring tools while maintaining safety standards.

Ideal candidates are detail-oriented, able to multitask in a fast-paced environment, and experienced with hand and power tools. Heavy lifting and lift-truck experience preferred.

• Ability to work in a fast-paced, multi-tasking environment and meet deadlines.
• Must be self-motivated, safety and quality conscious, and work efficiently with minimal supervision.
• Knowledge of manufacturing processes.
• Experience following work instructions or reading blueprints.
• Experience using hand and power tools.
• Prior experience in a light industrial facility preferred.
• Heavy lifting up to 50 lbs.
• Lift truck operator experience recommended.

Responsibilities

• Sets up and operates heavy-duty power equipment to bend, form, stretch and straighten a variety of products as specified by blueprints, layout, and templates.
• Perform duties required to assist setup and operate multiple automatic and/or multi-slide equipment for a variety of products.
• Ability to understand and work from drawings, order/route sheets, schedules, written, and verbal instructions.
• Check material for correct size, type, identification, configuration and color.
• Assist with set-up of dies, movable and stationary equipment, forming blocks, adjust stroke and feed as needed.
• Competent use micrometers, calipers, scales, tape measures, calculators and fixed gauges to check work in process and ensure adherence to specifications.
• Move materials using pallet jack, lift truck or crane (if PIT qualified) as necessary.
• Install and check safety devices as needed for specific jobs.
• Report faulty equipment, defective material and unusual conditions to supervisor or other appropriate resources.
• Observe and adhere to all prescribed safety rules and regulations and maintain work area in a neat and orderly condition.
• Perform other related duties as assigned or directed, which may require more than the normal shift hours or work week to meet company needs.
